Brennan Launches from Flounder's To Row To Key West

A lone rower launched from Flounder’s Beach on March 31 with a single mission - to raise money and awareness for Disabled American Veterans (DAV.) Retired Pensacola doctor Brian Brennan is attempting to row 900 miles from Pensacola Beach to Key West in his 18-foot rowboat, aptly named Daily Oar Deal.

“Veterans suffer many different types of disabilities affecting their daily lives,” said Brennan. “This journey will travel over 900 miles taking at least 8 weeks.”
To prepare for the event, Brennan would row from Pensacola to Pensacola Beach, where his cousin Bob “Shubob” Seymour lives. Shubob has supported Brennan’s effort since its beginning.

Brennan was surrounded by family and friends as he made his final preparations to launch into Santa Rosa Sound on a picture perfect Easter morning. As he dipped the first oar in the water, McGuire’s Pipe Band Pipe Major Michael Vazzana strode along Flounder’s dock and played the U.S. Navy’s hymn, Anchors Away. A fitting send off for the Navy veteran on his fundraising mission.

The fundraising goal is $10,000. Brennan has raised $6,255. He humbly requests donations, no matter how small.   You can donate online at  https://support.dav.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.personalCampaign&participantID=18578
Brennan has a Facebook page, Rowing for DAV Fundraiser, where fans and friends can keep up with his progress. It also has a link to the donation page.
