Escambia County Releases Annual Report Highlighting County Projects and Initiatives
Escambia County is excited to share the Fiscal Year 2023-24 Board of County Commissioners' Annual Report, highlighting numerous county projects, programs, initiatives and accomplishments from the last fiscal year. The Annual Report is available to view online here, featuring a variety of county-related information for Escambia County residents.
The Escambia County Annual Report is filled with information about county services throughout the community, ongoing county projects and an overview of accomplishments during the fiscal year, which began Oct. 1, 2023 and ended Sept. 30, 2024. The report highlights Escambia County government’s ongoing mission to provide efficient, responsive services that enhance the county’s quality of life.
"It has been a significant year for Escambia County, and I am truly proud of everything our team has been able to accomplish together," County Administrator Wes Moreno said. "It would be impossible to capture every achievement and activity from the past fiscal year, but I hope this Annual Report will provide an overview of the hard work that our dedicated employees do every day to serve Escambia County residents and improve our quality of life. I’m proud to say that we moved forward with more than $100 million in projects last fiscal year, and I am confident that we will continue that positive momentum in the coming year and beyond. The future is bright for Escambia County, and I look forward to working with the Board of County Commissioners, our residents, and county staff to keep us moving forward."
Highlights from the Annual Report include:
- News highlights from the fiscal year, including moving forward with $100 million in projects and several ribbon cutting events for the Ashton Brosnaham Athletic Park Multi-Use Facility, Beulah Fire Station, Perdido Bay Boat Ramp, and Perdido Key Multi-Use Path.
- Stormwater improvement project highlights, including the Eleven Mile Creek Basin Stormwater Improvement Project, Surrey-Windsong Stormwater Improvement Project, and Moreno Street Stormwater Pond and Sidewalk Improvement Project.
- New playgrounds and park improvements from fiscal year 2023-24, with numerous improvements completed throughout the county to provide additional play and recreational opportunities for residents.
- Escambia County youth programs including the Play, Learn, & Grow Summer Camp Program and Summer Youth Employment Program, with approximately 400 youth participating in both programs.
- County assistance programs, which provided more than $3.2 million to residents in need in the community.
- Sidewalk project highlights, including the 9 ½ Mile Road Sidewalk Project, Lee Street Sidewalk Project, and more.
- County Administration initiatives, including Real Change programs, American Rescue Plan funding, and Rebuild Florida Hurricane Sally Grants.
The Annual Report also features a summary for every Escambia County department and division, with statistics, information about projects and programs, and much more. Departments include Animal Welfare, Engineering, Library Services, Natural Resources Management, Neighborhood and Human Services, Parks and Recreation, Public Safety, and more.
