Pensacola Beach Gateway Sign Poll Results - Beach Ball Wins, Comments Reveal More

In a recent survey, Escambia County gave the public three design choices for signs to go across the southbound lanes of Pensacola Beach Blvd. The auto-tolling equipment would be located out of view behind the sign. The survey required that the respondent choose one option and provided a place for comments.

The results are as follows: Option One earned 157 votes. Option Two, 1942 votes, and Option Three 1728 votes.

Votes and comments are available in the attached spreadsheet.

Comments are below

These designs lack branding, creativity and a wow factor.

Also like 1.

I don’t know why you even need a sign at the entrance to the beach. Just leave the electronic towing equipment out there and save the sign for the pedestrian crossovers that you need at the light.

Of the options I liked the concept for the second one best. I do not care for the font as shown. Is there a reason it’s not using the same font and /beach ball design that is on the other Beach signage? Wouldn’t that be better for continuity purposes?
Has anyone determined if the height of that "gateway" is sufficient to clear the masts of sailboats?  We don't need another 17th Ave train trestle truck killer.  Also, what about equipment trucks like cranes and even fire trucks?

I think that both option two and three are decent, but option two is more unique to Pensacola Beach and on brand.
Option 2 makes the most sense to coincide with the beach ball on the beach!

Beautiful representation of what the Pensacola Beach offers without being gaudy, overly tourist (like the beach ball, much over used everywhere).  Second opinion would be Option 1 with the open Beach Ball as it is less obtrusive and gaudy than the colorful beach ball in option 2.
Option #2 looks great’

I don't like any of them... Why do we need to cover up the view with a sign that spans over the entire roadway entering the island? Use the money for some other need on the beach.
I would prefer to not have anything on the right side of the sign! Looks tacky!

The beach ball is an iconic part of Pensacola Beach.
The dolphin is unquestionably the superior design!
I like the dolphin on the right of the sign. Add a colorful beach ball to the left side of this sign.

I would prefer something that didn’t span the road, smaller and off to the side. Not a fan of the type font.
Would look good without the beach ball all together

I love option 2! The colors are great, and it goes along with the water tower.
Like the colored beach ball

I really don't like the font for "Pensacola Beach".  It would be nice if it tied into either the sign or beach ball tower font.  Either one is iconic and instantly recognizable as Pensacola Beach!

All three of these designs look cartoonish. It would be nice to have something in a modern style that also does not obstruct the view.

These are terrible...and look like a child drew them _x0001F926__x0001F3FC_‍♀️. Please try again...
1. Need to ensure the height is tall enough no large trucks, sailboats, etc can ram it like they do with graffiti bridge!!

2. The Font of this lettering is HIDEOUS!!! Needs to be redone!
Always go with nature!

Prefer None of Above but that wasn’t an option.  Prefer to see tollbooth structure left in place, remove the lane  booths and put new equipment for toll by plate in existing structure. Use the money saved to help build parking garage or other infrastructure needs .

None of the options. I just have to select one because it was required in order to submit. Just paint the existing tollbooth building a beachy color keep it so it’s traffic control so people aren’t coming onto the beach at 100 miles an hour

Honestly, I don't think anyone believes this will do anything to improve traffic. Would much rather see money prioritized to real traffic solutions first. So let's raise the toll on this pretty gateway to help accomplish that.
I would prefer we didn't spend millions on this project. We have wasted so much money over the decades redoing till booth, landscaping. People are going to the beach regardless of entrance. Also we have way too many signs now up and down via de Luna..

Option 2 best represents the iconic beach ball colors
What about tall trucks, big loads, construction? This looks way too short and too small. A sign on the side of the road like the one already in place for decades would be better...keeping the same theme. Add a counter...the number of vehicles crossing.

These 3 are not creative. They are boring. They dont add any value.

Keep the dolphin - make the O in Pensacola a beach ball … !!!!! _x0001F929_

We already have a ball
I know there have been many negative comments but most all are baseless. You might want to post who designed it as many think a local person should be involved.
I vote none. This is a waste of money and time. It brings nothing of value to the beach. It is actively making that area look worse.
I like this one best. Also, change the Pensacola Beach sign back to Gulf of Mexico.

The sign change to gulf of America is ridiculous. The rest of the world still calls it by its rightful and historical name Gulf of Mexico. Stop making us look like backwards hicks.

I  would have preferred a grocery store or a gas station before this sign.
Please consider making it as low profile as possible and still accommodate the toll pass equipment.

These look stupid. And the Gulf of America sign is stupid.

This option connects the welcome to the Beach with its iconic Beach Ball at Casino Beach.

Really love 2 and 3!  Is there a way to put dolphin on one side and beach ball on the other?!

I think all three designs lack any real inspiration and style. Try again please. I would hate to have to look at this everytime I go to the beach. I only picked one so I could submit this comment.
Seems obvious to keep the consistency of the beach ball since that is also represented other places. Also, please change it back to the Gulf of Mexico on the lighted sign.
Change the sign back to gulf of mexico
Please change the “Gulf of America” sign back to “Gulf of Mexico”

They are all dreadful
All options look terrible. The typeface looks amateurish, the spacing bad, the background conflicts with the type. Both the beach ball and dolphin imagery is already immediately visible on the water tanks and towers. Adding them here makes it visually repetitive and lame. This idea is a waste of money.

Love the dolphin!! Every beach has beachballs, not every place has dolphins!

All look three look the same, ridiculous.  Why do something do tacky?!  This is a waste of time, energy and money.  Stop it.
You NEED. a different font. This literally looks like a child did it in MS Paint in 10 minutes. Please think about a font change.
No matter what happens remove the toll booth to help with traffic flow!
We have enough beach ball decor in the area.  The dolphin is a symbol of the natural beauty we have!

I would love to see a turtle, ray, or Manatee on the left side as well...

The ball is already on the island, it would be redundant.
Frankly these all look tacky and strongly suggest something more tasteful that respects the natural beauty of the gulf and our beaches. These would look at home adorning the entry to an amusement park, but would serve as a blight on the approach to what is otherwise a beautiful beach. Even the bare-metal industrial-looking frame to support the cameras would be more visually appealing than these options. But if we must, I recommend hosting an open call to artists for design; eg the new 98w sign.

Also, return the sailfish sign to read "Gulf of Mexico.

These are all abysmal y'all. Why are we spending money on this? It's blocking the view of the Gulf of Mexico and it looks like a kindergarten class banner. Pay someone with an actual degree to design it at least. Dear God. This is legitimately embarrassing.
I only selected an option because it was required but I choose NONE! These are all horrible options! They look cheap and cheesy! Not Pensacola vibes at all!!
Option 2 is the best because it is colorful but this is really simplistic and looks like it was taken from a coloring book. Option 1 should never have even been drafted and

is very lazy. Very generic designs that any beach town could come up with and doesn't set Pensacola apart. Slap it on a tshirt.

Also change the Pensacola Beach sign back to Gulf of Mexico since the next president will just change it back.
They all suck, quit letting your kid make designs. Also, it's the Gulf of Mexico you fucking cowards.

I’m only choosing one because I have to but they are ALL terrible. This looks worse than a Chat GPT design. We have loads of talented graphic designers and firms in town. These are NOT it.

All of these options look like they were thrown together in a day. Not trying to be rude, just giving criticism.
Really? These are the best options for a gateway for Pensacola Beach? Can you get more cartoonish? Looks like the "Homes for sale," "Cars for lease," and "Open House" signs that sellers and buyers stick into the ground to attract passers-by. Or an extension of Alvin's Island advertising. How about you solicit serious works by local design firms, artists and others?
Please tell me there are more options?!?!

Can you share which graphic designer or architect created this? We need a skilled graphic designer. Even a local contest for designs? The Pensacola Pelican sign is amazing and was a submission by a local! This is way too basic.
They're all amateurishly bad, sorry to say. Hire a real designer that understands brand and identity. As someone with a career in brand strategy, identity, visual design, and art direction, please understand the damage you are doing to the Pensacola Beach brand by choosing any of these. I could give a 2 hour lecture on everything wrong with these designs. DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE.

Dolphin makes the sign we always see tons of dolphins when we’re there Pensacola is our favorite!
I think the gateway sign should look more substantial.  This looks like the first hurricane would easily blow it away.  How would traffic be stopped from driving onto the beach after a hurricane?  Simple barricades?  Police in their squad cars?  This shows 3 lanes...surely there will be 4.  I hope this rendering didn't cost much.  Disappointed.

As someone who has worked on marketing projects with professional graphic designers for over 20 years, I don’t think any of these options sufficiently brand Pensacola Beach distinctively enough.
But all 3 are awful! Cheap looking and very Disney like! Please don’t

My 12 year old daughter also chose option 3, with the dolphin.
These options all suck you all cound be more innovative. And create something better than these plain jane options. Seems cheap too me
PLEASE DONT PUT ANYTHING ACROSS THE ROADWAY!! the beauty of the beach view is enough. Please stop putting up signs that block the view.

Option two is the most consistent with other placemaking landmarks (i.e. the beachball tower and marlin sign). Please consider an alternative with the beach ball on one corner and the dolphin on the other corner.
These are all terrible and the name on the sign should be changed back to Gulf of Mexico from Gulf of America

None of these. Please. It looks really cheap. Why do we even need something like this. Put the money towards more lifeguards or anything else.

Use a better font, like Lemon Orange Retro font. Overall, it looks dull.

Gross. Yuck. None of these!! Really NONE of these pass muster!! It’s not needed, it’s tacky and makes the beach look like an amusement park. But if you really want a sign hire a professional that does great work in this niche

All 3 are really bad. I was forced to choose 1 so I could provide input. I live on Ft Pickens and grew up here. This design says “we had a contest for elementary school children to design this sign.”

Pensacola and Pensacola Beach are classier than this. Please reconsider not ruining our lovely beach with this monstrosity.

3 is absolutely lovely to invite our visitors!

NONE OF THE ABOVE - Please open up a design contest. These are below par at best. Pensacola has an amazing graphic design community. Allow them to shine.

All are horrible. Hire a professional designer please.
I'm selecting Option 2 because I have to pick something. This design is awful!!! Please start over from scratch...

We have quite a few things with the beach ball on it. It would be nice to see a dolphin..
However I would prefer no gateway and instead spend $ on nice landscaping entrance.

Put $ into emergency services!

No sign is needed. The visitors to the beach have already passed a sign that tells them where they are going. The beach already is challenged with their imaging - this will make it look tacky - terrible . There are other infrastructure issues that are more important to invest in. This is putting lipstick on a pig. Please stop! Improve the multipurpose paths and other deferred maintenance issues on the island rather than throwing more money toward things that don’t add value to tourist developme.
Go back to the sail add the dolphin and get rid of the rainbow lettering
I vote for incorporating the beach ball with all its colors, but in a better design.

I only voted because it was required to submit this comment. No offense, but I would recommend hiring a professional graphic designer as these options all have very amateur elements throughout the entire design. The designer who designed the new Pensacola city sign with the pelican would be a great option.

Option one can’t really tell it’s a beach ball

The designs need to be taken back to the drawing board. I'm not trying to be cruel, but whatever you paid for these mockups - you paid too much. The design of the waves is as unoriginal, obvious, and uncreative as you can get. If you asked 100 people off the street to design a sign that featured waves, this would be the the first sketch for all of them. Pensacola deserves a sign that represents the amazing local art community and unfortunately this is not it.
All of these aren't that great. Maybe next time find some local artists to help with the concept.

Please don’t add a parking deck to the beach!!
I like option 2 and 3. Could we integrate both on the design?
I would prefer the writing in cursive as well.

Option 2 is my fav!

The iconic sailfish on one side might be nice with a short phrase like the Gulf Breeze sign's "Turn Right", but something that indicates you reached your destination:  "Stay awhile", "You made it", "Enjoy yourself".

From a marketing perspective, brand recognition is imperative. The beach ball is the recognized logo for PB.

Love the dolphin

We already have the beachball in the main parking area.. would love to see something different! Love the dolphin option.  Thanks for asking for my opinion!

Pick a better font! And if the letters are all capitalized, why are the P & B bigger? I vote all the letters be the same size.

The Iconic beach ball for me

I like the beach ball paying homage to the Pensacola pier beach ball water tower.

Or nothing. Use the money towards other things on the beach! _x0001F601_

The entire sign is very tacky, especially the lettering.

What if you did the beach ball on the right and the dolphin on the left? Just flip the dolphin so it’s facing the middle.

I really prefer nothing.   These look like a carnival atmosphere.  Why can't we go more cohesive with the natural environment...like Rosemary Beach.

The beach ball in option 1 is full

The dolphins is tiny

The beach ball option 2 is CUTEEEE

please also add more parking :)

All three look very cheap. Surely you can do better.

It should match the water tower. It’s historical.
Love number 2 because it has the colorful beach ball with the beautiful scenery.

Why is there not an option with an item on top of each side for balance ?! Like a dolphin and the ball opposite ends or the Blue Angels like plane coming off of the sign. Ball on the left. Will it be able to withstand strong winds ? Is it visible from just the entrance side? What’s on the back? We moved here from a town that did this similar thing and it looked stupid when installed and was one sided .

It needs both a dolphin on one side and beach ball on the other.   GBHS alumni

Hard decision I really love both option two and option three the beach ball and dolphins _x0001F970_
The beach ball and the color make a vibrant, welcoming scene
None. I only selected three because I couldn’t submit the form without picking one. All of these options look like a first grader using word art. I don’t think this sign is needed at all, but if we are going to waste money on it there should be a design contest held for local artists. Why not make this something meaningful? These designs are embarrassing.

Would be cool to have the colored beach ball on one side and dolphin on the other side.

Why don’t we have a Blue Angels option?

Option 3 with the dolphin is best.  Should maybe consider a sea turtle instead because that's all over the airport. Other sea creature could be manta ray since we have those cruising on the beach also.

My choice order is 2, 3, then 1.

Add more dolphins and some waves.  Add a sun in the corner to incorporate the other design in as well.  Our dolphins are so active year round it’s the best thing about being on the water

None

The Iconic beach ball should win. I heard they might change the beach ball to fat Albert.

The blue Angels on one side wld be the best
I like 2 and 3 both. However the beach ball is an iconic symbol of Pensacola Beach.
Love the dolphin

My initial reaction is this looks tacky, as though you are entering an amusement park. However, if I have a choice it would be option 3, which looks better than the other two options.

Love the dolphin

I grew up in Pensacola Beach in the 70s and 80s. The beachball and colors recalls both the iconic water tower and iconic sailfish sign.

None of the above are good. I’d prefer no sign over any of these.

How about option 4...the colored ball on one side and the dolphin on the other side!!
Definitely 2!

We know where we are at. We don’t need a sign. Imagine all the tourists slowing down and stopping for this. We need more sideways and better infrastructure.

You gotta have the ball....

Definitely the beach ball with color!  Matches the water tower!

Should add a navy jet too
Love that it is focusing on natural beauty found in the area

From a local business owner, artist and designer - please do another revision of this signage. There are so many visual flaws with the type treatment, arrangement, and the added visual elements that it’s hard to list them all. Not trying to diss the designer, but this will be such an eyesore. These options are not up to Pensacola/Pensacola Beach standards.
I selected one bevause I had to but these are all tacky. They look like a college frat party. Can we start this while design process over?

Love the dolphin

They all look pretty immature and childish. The fonts are terrible and the clip art quality items to choose from are pathetic.

I chose option 2 since it at least matches the water tower design.

Try again!

It would look great with the Dolphin on one side and the beach ball on the other.

If you added a dolphin to the other side of the banner it would be even more fantastic!

The beach ball outline doesn’t stand out. The actual beach ball can generally be seen while entering the beach, so having it here would be repetitive. The dolphin could also increase business for dolphin tours.
Option 2 with the beach ball looks very inviting and colorful _x0001F60A_

Not a fan of any but  Option 1 is the least preschool mural
Manatee would better than dolphin.

beach ball on one side and and dolphin/manatee on the other side cool too

Also the bridge lights being on every night would be awesome too or minimum all summer nights and save money by installing solar panels to power those lights

Just make sure the clearance is greater than the graffiti bridge!

We already have the big beach ball water tower and I think the dolphin is perfect!

Most sightseers come in hopes to see dolphins or other sea life. I think a dolphin would be the best option

Where will it be?
I like this one best because my whole life I’ve loved seeing the big dolphins painted on those tanks right as you come through the toll for the beach.

I like the dolphin. We already have a beach ball.

The dolphin an beach ball would look nice too!
Maybe option 2 and 3 combined!

The beach ball is traditional and iconic imagery synonymous with Pensacola.

I hope it has LED lights at night

It has to be the multicolored beach ball that looks like the iconic water tower.

Ties in with the water tower

Sealife is always what people hope to see at the beach.

I like 2 or 3.  Beach ball on one side and dolphin on the other side would be good.

Can’t wait to see it!

Love the cute dolphin.

The color of the beach ball stands out more than the dolphin.

The beach ball is the iconic symbol of Pensacola Beach

I picked the 2nd one only for the pop of color. I like the cutouts in the ball of option one. If the ball was multicolored in option 1, I like it best.
Parking is needed, this is nice but not needed!

Perfect !!

I agree with most FB comments…no sign. It’s cheesy and unnecessary. Removing the toll plaza removes a lot of blight why add it back?
None of the above. We don’t need anything this big and gaudy. If there must be a gateway, please keep it minimalistic.

It matches the beach ball water tower.

Also add colorful beach ball on other side. So dolphin and beachball.

PB is known for the “beach ball” water tower. While I love option 2, I think the ball should be moved slightly over support pillar, so it actually looks like the water tower.

…just my 2 beans

P'cola is known for the beach ball so it only makes sense.

I really dislike them all and would prefer that there be no sign, but if these are the only choices, I reluctantly vote for option 3.

#2 definitely
It’s the least intrusive of all 3.  Quite frankly all 3 ruin the view and look cheap.  Considering a less intrusive design that has some see through points so the skyline and beach are visible.  It’s not like Disney where there isn’t an ocean view.
I choose Option 2 because of beach ball statute.
Beach Ball has to be the One. But needs something more.

I think that option 2 is the best of these options, but they all seem to be really horrible choices. The only redeeming quality seems to be the blue pallet color scheme but the font is childish in a bad way and the beach ball/dolphin do not go well with the color scheme or style of the gateway. My recommendation is to scrap all three of these and completely restart the design process.

While the beach ball is iconic, none of these renderings do it justice. The dolphin is subtle and add to the sign and there are always dolphins out and about. Both my daughter and I liked this one best.

The consistency with the beach ball tower makes this perfect!

Option 2 and 3 together. Move that dolphin on one side and the ball on the other.

Needs a beach ball on one side & the dolphin on the other!

By far the best

I love the dolphin, but since the famous scenic highway sign had a marlin, it might be too similar or cause confusion. ("Right by the big sign with the fish.")

None. This is so tacky.

Would be nice if the Pensacola Beach Ball design is almost like a sun catcher.  Something that the light can shine through.

Option 2 but you could add the dolphin as well

Please hire a professional. These designs look like a 2nd grader opened the paint program and had 10 minutes to come up with something

I like option 2 because it’s colorful. Option 3 would be my second choice but it reminds me of the sign at Hwy 98(?), even though I know that one is a sailfish and not a dolphin. The beach ball water tower is iconic and definitely represents Pensacola!

Beach ball is iconic to Pcola, its unofficial mascot plus it stands out and colorful

Pensacola Beach already has a Beach Ball that everybody knows. With the amount of Dolphin activity they need to be supported.
Gotta have the iconic beach ball!!!!!
Add a manatee!!

Love the colorful beach ball!
Make sure that the sign has pass passthroughs that allow the air to get through it so it’s not a giant sale during a hurricane otherwise we will be just repairing it non-stop after every hurricane and let’s face it that ain’t gonna be any good plus no other option is what’s the point of this we have the big huge welcome to Pensacola Beach sign pointing to the beach Why are we wasting taxpayer money on a sign on the beach?

None of them. They all look cheap and cheesy. We do not need a sign. You need an option of not liking any of the signs. I can think of a lot more options to spend millions on.

Obviously
Combine the beach ball and Dolphin onto one sign (one in each side)!  They are both iconic to our beach and should both be on the sign!

These all look like a middle schooler came up with it in homeroom using MS Paint. But the 1st one is least offensive.

Do better.
I feel the font needs to be lowered below the dark blue wave on all of them. Looks off centered. But the beach ball matches the iconic water tower perfectly!

Those signs are tacky and completely unnecessary for the beach. It just cheapens the look of the beach. Please no sign.

Perhaps combine 2 & 3 with one on each side? Love the iconic beachball, it’s a must; but the dolphin is lovely! Beachball on left and dolphin on right!!

I see dolphins and lots of them every time we are there.

Combine option 2 and 3. Beach ball on left, dolphin on the right

Should’ve had a sun on one or a sun on the other side, since we are the sunshine state

The gray makes the blue pop out!

You could also do a turtle! On the other side too! Either on its own or with the dolphin.

Love option 2 because of the colored iconic beach ball!

It definitely represents Pensacola and everything.
Add dolphin on the other side

The water tower is a great icon as a beach ball. Cool to see it mirrored on this sign.
Since it's "the beach" I think the ball works best _x0001F60A_

I dont really like any of the options. I would love to see a design that is not retro or cheap looking. Please re-evaluate and go for a look that still looks fun but also is classy.

2nd choice is option 2
2 or 3 not 1

Love #2 _x0001F499_
No sign lol use the money elsewhere

I like how the beach ball ties in with the iconic beach ball sign.

These all are failures do better

Honestly not a fan of any of them.  It looks so cheap and like it was designed within a 10 time frame.
None of these designs are aesthetically pleasing. Please use an actual artist or graphic designer to create a beautiful sign we can all be proud of, not one that looks poorly designed.

Please get new options! Unless your going for a cheap/tacky beach vibe I guess.

Sea turtle on one side, dolphin on the other!
Love the dolphin, but adding the colored beach ball on the left would make this superior

The beach ball is P’Cola’s icon for sure.

Option 1  has a more subtle contemporary appearance.  Additionally, the beach ball framing offers less windage for storms.

I like option 3 but would love to see the beach ball added at the other end from the dolphin!
I say dolphins because ya'll already have the big ball. Ya'll don't need more balls!

The current design options available for public input appear to be simplistic renderings that lack the sophistication expected for a project of this magnitude. This approach undermines the goal of meaningful community engagement and suggests a need for a more thorough and professional design process.

Given the project’s estimated cost of $1.6 million for design alone, it’s imperative that the designs reflect a higher standard of quality and innovation.

A sea turtle would represent the beach more

Matches  the water tower

Option 2 or 3 but brighten up the dolphin
add Dolphin as well to other end.

We have the beachball already. The dolphin looks more like Florida.

Option 4 don’t do it. If people need a sign to know they’re on Pensacola Beach, then hmm, Bill Engvall has your sign. If you insist on doing this, Option 1 without the thing on top. Would be okay if this is replacing the toll booths.

We don't live in Pensacola, but we are frequent visitors. ❤

The beach ball is already on the water tower. A dolphin makes more sense.

The color in the beach ball matches the water tower beach ball at Casino beach. Love it!

Is this in addition to the swordfish sign or to replace it?

All about the beach ball
I like the idea of adding a beach ball on the left side of the sign opposite he dolphin

None I select NONE

None ! Don’t block the whole view from toll bridge.  First thing you see coming over the him is the beach ball behind you that’s the only sign we need. Anything else is tacky.  Even if it replaces the toll booth still ugly still blocking the only icon you need.  Just tear down the booths and put toll cameras on side of road.

Option 2 looks colorful and fun
These are absolutely horribly designed. Pensacola has so many professional designers that would love to take on this project. I’d be embarrassed to propose these.

I think that #2 is the best because of the colored beach ball.

We already have the beach ball. Let’s do something different. Everyone loves dolphins!
The font is terrible and overall designs are tacky, there is so much potential here if you hire the right person

Combining Option 2 and Option 3 would be awesome. Keep the dolphin on the right and put the beach ball on the left

How about a beach ball on left too?

Love it

In option 2 put that ball on option 3 on the left hand side. Look neat with both on the sign

The colored beach ball is classic Pensacola beach, it is far and away the best option! The neutral ball is too plain and while we love dolphins, it’s the mascot of Gulf Breeze, not the Pensacola Beach icon.

More vibrant colors!

Required to pick one, but my choice is - None. It is a distraction from the natural view of entering the island. Our beach is known for being non-commercialized, leave it that way!

I would like to see 2 and 3 merged.
Option 3 with the beach ball from option 2 on the left hand side

This one looks great! Some soft LED lighting would make this pop at night too!
The blues on the other side would be great

The dolphin is a better symbol of Pensacola and its waters than a beach ball. They have been a symbol of what areas are polluted and safe, and those that are not. They return to areas as they become clean.
Definitely with the colored beach ball

All 3 are ugly and a waste of 1.6 million.  Did a child design this?  How mucb was paid for the designs?

The beach ball water tower is iconic and IS Pensacola Beach.

2nd place option 3

Dolphins are such a slay

Cohesive look with the water tower
Pensacola Beachball
With as many that come to Pensacola .. would it be possible to add a small fee onto the toll that would go towards the care and wellbeing of aquatic sea animals in our area? Just a thought.

The beach ball reminds me of old school Pensacola sign. I love the dolphin, too.

None of these options are worth the investment into something that is supposed to be beautifying and an ode to the natural environment. Seek local, unique talent and use the money to invest in a more creative and sustainable project.

Please send this back to the design studio, we can do better than these options.

All of these are horrific designs that look like they were done with word art in 2004. Please please please reconsider the design. I am a local born and raised and have been going to the beach since I was a child and it would be so disappointing for this monstrosity to deface our beach. This is horrible. Please do not count my boat. My comments are all that I wanted to put in. Please do not use any of these signs. They are horrific. I would be so upset.

I would rather see Dolphin on one side and ball on other.

Love two because it matches the water tower!!

I like the dolphin too but beach ball is iconic

Would have preferred a Blue Angel to show our appreciation to them and the Navy but the beach ball is ok.

Love the dolphin!!
Option 2 goes with the water tower

The beach ball goes in with the tower at the beach
Save the money. Don't put this up. The font+spacing looks like something from 2008.

Love the color!

My choice would be option #2.

It will match our famous

Pensacola Beach Ball Water Tower that is known worldwide.

I've been admiring the

Pensacola Beach Ball Water Tower since I was a 15 year old girl.

Now at the age of 47, I still get the same excitement when I see the Pensacola Beach Water Tower Ball.

So many memories over the years.

Option #2 PLEASE!

Thank you for giving the public an option to help choose.

The beach ball is colorful, eye catching and promotes fun.

Add the beach ball to the left side and keep the dolphin on the right side
I truly hope that none of these are chosen. These sign mock-ups gives the exact opposite impression of Pensacola's beaches that I think most residents here have of one of our greatest natural resources. These designs are cartoonish, and if I was to have to guess on design alone without text, I'd think I was about arriving in Miami, or Boca Raton, where there is no qualm with the fact that this will block the views of our beautiful beaches.

Lame. I liked the one they plagiarized the first time, better.
It reminds me of the Pensacola Beach sign.
Option 2 is the only one that makes sense.  The beach ball is representative of the beach and water tower of same design.  Option 1 looks odd, incomplete.  Option 3 is dull with a gray dolphin.  So Option 2 is the winner hands fown!

Not a real fan of any of these. I think I would prefer no additional graphic on the top right; however, if it's going to be one of these, #2.
Had to choose one but none of these options are acceptable. Please hire a proper designer or open up a design competition for local designers to come up with a more beautiful welcome to our beach. This would be a huge waste of money with current designs.

The beach ball is a classic symbol of Pensacola Beach!

With lights in between the waves.
All three of these have an “amusement park” look.

Really insufferably awful!

It would have been a better idea to have three completely different types of fonts/sign styles to choose from.
Coordinates with the giant one on beach!
The beach ball is more whimsical

Pensacola beach is known for the beach ball and of course it has to have color. So definitely #2.
Combination of 2 and 3

I would rather none.. Just beach, no touristy sign needed.

We love Pensacola. See ya soon

Beach ball on the left would look great!

Although I like the dolphin in Option 3, I feel that the beach ball in Option 2 is more colorful and ties in to the Casino Beach water tower.

I like option 3 as well but, I think the sign needs color. A sailfish on the other side from the colored beach ball would look even nicer. Although, I know that adds to the cost.
Although I have only passed thru your area, even Indiana residents know that beach ball icon means Pensacola Beach. Great branding is unforgettable

The beach ball is redundant.
I like how it draws the focus and association with the beach back to nature with the dolphin, whereas a beach ball gives it a human themed feel if that makes sense!
Option 2 would be the best coming onto the island because Pensacola Beach is associated with the iconic beach ball towering the beach.

Please hire a professional designer to create the first impression of Pensacola Beach. None of these options are acceptable.

None of these. Our beach deserves something artistic and special. This looks like you are going into a discount amusement park. There is so much talent in this world. Get artist to submit options. Not this. We are the most beautiful beach in the world. You don’t feel that vibe from this. I only picked 2 because I had to submit. Do Not Count that as a vote!

#3 with the dolphin bumping a beach ball with his snout.

I like the dolphin :)
I love the beach ball. I think a sea turtle would also be great!

The first one looks like it got stuff blown out in a hurricane. I would also like to please suggest (sent this in on Instagram but no one viewed or answered) public pianos every so often down the street. I would even be very willing to help with this project- there are free pianos everywhere available and most of them are very good condition. I’ve been a pianist for over 30+ years and a teacher for 25 years. I would be happy to lend my expertise in acquiring the best pianos for the project.

It should be a pelican if your going put an animal on the sign

#2 is the best choice of the three but none are exciting or fun. The font is bland. Keep working on designs until you find something that captures the essence of our wonderful beach.

With a beach ball on his snout or on the opposite side

It should still say, The sand is whiter in Pensacola
Please hire an actual graphic designer. Not someone’s kid or a free app. This is embarrassing.
Love the pop of color on the beach ball! I love the dolphin too! It would be perfect with the dolphin on one side and a colorful beach ball on the other!

Love the beach ball

Throw in a Blue Angel/Fat Albert _x0001F601_
These are all so bad.

I am a graphic design professional and don’t want to come off harsh in any way, but these are far from where it should be to be even considered. They are very juvenile like they were clipped from a stock website with little thought as to what makes Pensacola Beach special in the first place, and I’m sure with more refining, there could be better concepts to make it be something beautiful. My opinion is this would benefit from going back to the drawing board, 100%. Only voting to comment

The dolphin adds to the sign without being too distracting.

None of these. They are all absolutely terrible. Please hire a real designer who specializes in this type of thing and send out some real options. These are embarrassing. I’m a branding and graphics guys for nearly 20 years so I do know a little about this. I don’t do signs like this because it isn’t my specialty so I’m not just some salty designer that is mad I couldn’t design the sign. Please get some better options so this is a nice addition for to our beautiful beach.

The current toll facility is an arch.

Simply leave the current structure, but remove the two center toll booths.
The beach ball is iconic Pensacola Beach!
Dolphin on the right, beach ball on the left.
Cute idea. 3 is the most visually balanced. It might look better showing the dolphin with its tail and splashes coming out of the water for more energy.

The beach ball would match the one on the Island...
It should match the beachball water tower.

Matches water tower … beach ball fun!!
I don't think we need this large sign at the entrance to Pensacola Beach. We have a small quaint island that can only handle so many people. Speaking of people, maybe a crosswalk over the main beach traffic light with this design on it. It may help with traffic flow. I grew up on the beach since 1972. I like to focus on our southern hospitality, delicious seafood and beautiful beaches with so much history. Thank you for the opportunity to leave a message. I hope a sensible resolution is found.

We already have the beach ball in the parking lot near Crabs. Gulf Breeze schools are the Dolphins, so there should be a dolphin included in the sign since you have to go to Gulf Breeze to get to Pensacola Beach.

Option 2 makes more sense because we love our Pensacola beach ball!!! It would be the perfect option!

These are all pretty terrible. Option 3 is best, but also awful. Can’t we do something nice instead?

Love option 3! We have seen dolphins off the shore many times and it's one of our favorite memories!

Has to be 2

The waves and lettering look cartoonish. Not a big fan of the style overall, but I do like the dolphin and the arch!

Dolphin on one side with a colored beach ball in the other side.

Na

Quite frankly these are all hideous. A flat sign/banner looks tacky and cheap. I think a more solid and elegant architectural structure would be far more impressive. Maybe hire a different graphic designer and reapproach this?

Destin has the dolphin and the colorful beach ball stands out better

The ball with no color and the dolphin both tend to fade into the background and aren’t seen. The full color ball continues to draw your eye across the entire banner and is my favorite.

These are literally all terrible. Please hire a real designer.
You could put the colorful beach ball in it as well.

You could even do a colorful beach ball on the left and the dolphin on the right.

Love the color of the beach ball in option 2.

Maybe add an additional sea animal to other side like the dolphin

Option 2 because the "beach ball" has become the symbol of Pcola Beach!
None of these! Pensacola is FULL of astoundingly creative people and agencies that could do far better work than this. Let Pensacola put its best foot forward and stop handing off high profile projects like this to the lowest bidder or worse - highly paid professionals that do subpar work.
Keeping the beach ball tradition around, as Pensacola beach has the beach ball water tower.

Option one and two look so bad

Ohivote

I really vote None. Why mess up the beautiful natural view? NONE

I like opinion 2
These designs all look too juvenile! We deserve something better and more classy! I feel like there need to be more options!

None. But you made me pick one in order to submit this comment. These are too basic. We have way more creativity to this beautiful place let the sign show that!
Number 3 and add the beach ball to the left side too.

I personally think there is no need to waste tax dollars on another sign. But option 2 is a no Brainer if we must throw money away

Please do not do any of these. This sign is fuck ugly.
If it's possible to do two designs, 2 & 3 on either side would be great

These wouldn’t make it past the first round of revisions in my state school graphic design classes. These designs are all remarkably ugly- I say that as an experienced designer, a lifelong citizen of Pensacola, and a constituent with eyes. Please return to the drawing board.
needs better/different font.

None of them. If this costs this much money, why would it be this bad of a design. Look at how well the Pensacola sign was received because of its retro look. This is innisfree hotel advertising. bump that
The colored Beach Ball is iconic!

It would be nice to have the beach ball on one side and the dolphin on the other side.
It would be  Nice if you could have the dolphin and the beach ball

Option 2 makes the colors pop and aligns with the beach ball theme.

Live Pensacola!!
Please consider no sign, this would block beautiful views. Or please consider commissioning a local artist, I don’t personally believe any of these designs are representative of my home beach, thank you for taking my thoughts into consideration!

They are very nice, but very plain. i would like to see the phrase "world's whitest beach" across beautiful white sand with a few seashells (sand dollar Starfish seahorse) done simply.. It is our beautiful white sand, shelling and gorgeous emerald waters that make people fall in love with Pensacola and it makes the locals happy as well.

The beach ball is a local icon.

The iconic beachball is a must for me! I've been visiting since 1966.

Dolphin on one side and a black ball on the other

The design of all three- especially the font/spacing of the letters- is really bad. I think this needs to be scratched and start over again. I know there’s some element of “you’re never going to make everyone happy,” but this is bad. I could make a better design using Canva templates and zero graphic design experience. I really hope the rumored cost of the design portion so far is not accurate. It would be better to have just a plain, boring pole across it with nothing versus having a tacky sign

I would have thought the Blue Angels would have been on a design. Maybe it's not allowed?

Pedestrian walk over would be better. These honestly don’t even look good at all. Kinda tacky looking like a elementary school kid did it
Please don't make this. Use the money for something else.  This seems wasteful! The Pensacola Beach sign just before this area is enough to indicate where they went. The money could be going towards something more helpful.

I like 2. Take the dolphin from option 3 and also put in on 2
I think a different font should be considered.

The money should really be allocated to improving parking/traffic, but…..

We already have the Beach Ball design on the island with Casino Beach parking lot. The Dolphin Hands Down!!! It's nostalgic for a lot of locals who grew up thinking dolphins were in those tanks coming onto the island just past the toll (no clue why so many people thought this but it's surprisingly commen. Lol). Free the dolphin! ")

Dolphin on one side and colored beach ball on the other. Balance design

NO sign!!!!  It looks trashy. I only chose because I had to send your form.  I am so upset at the direction Pensacola Beach is taking.  Over building, cheap signs like this one.  SO SAD what is being done to our beautiful beach .  I am guessing all the people in charge of these changes are new comers and not from the REAL PENSACOLA.

Oof. That terrible font. So much is wrong with these designs. As these are all very disappointing choices, and I actually vote none of the above, but it forced me to choose one to give you all feedback. Are you working with a local designer? This makes me so embarrassed for our city.
Please note that my selection is Option 4, none of the above. I suggest in the nicest way possible, let’s please start over. Pensacola Beach is fun but it’s homey and local, not PCB or Fort Lauderdale. These look amateur and cartoonish.
Don’t do any of them

None of the above. I think the sign is a waste of money. And with these amateur designs, may as well just say welcome to cheeseball beach. We have a sign coming into the beach welcoming you—the lit up one. It’s mid century modern feeling. If you absolutely have to still do this project then please hire Chris Bogan Creative to design it as these aren’t it.

Pensacola beach needs a rebrand. To embrace and celebrate our mid century development era and to match the current sign.

The beach ball water tower has always been a staple in Pensacola.  Option #2 is most fitting.

Love the beach ball and keeping the same theme

All of these are tacky replacements from the original design. The first one looked great. The new designs look terrible! Consider a redesign. Picking option one only for the beach ball being Close to the original.

Don’t love any of these :(

I don't  like any of them, I only selected one so you would see the this message. They are not good designs and don't represent Pensacola Beach in any way. Please find another artist.

Add some more color

The beach balls are tacky.  Our beach is not an amusement park.  The dolphin at least fits the theme on the sewage tanks.
A dolphin jumping over the beach ball would be amazing

We see dolphins all the time.  That is more of a tourist draw than the beachball they can visualize from where the sign will be.

Hope song survives hurricanes!

Got to have the beachball!  Get it done!!!

Please, get a better design. This is embarrassing. I live on the beach and I love the idea of a sign, but I would rather toll booths than this horrific design.

I’ve been coming to PCB since I was 3 years old. That was 73 years ago!!  The beach ball water tower has always been an icon we loved to see !! We were at the beach!!

NONE of these - they are ALL hideous.  Please focus on cleaning up our beach - it looks filthy.  We are becoming Panama City Beach and that's  not a good thing.  Every time I have visited the area around the beach ball I have seen trash all over the ground and drunk loud rude people.  We used to be a family beach - seems that is fading fast.

2 and 3 are both nice. Can you use #2 and put the dolphin from #3 on the left side?

I WOULD HAVE VOTED FOR OPTION 3 IF IT  HAD OPPSING DOLPHIN ON LEFT SIDE.....
I love the one with the dolphin because I believe it represents the area best
These are all ugly as hell. Hire a real graphic artist and not some budget option from Fiverr.

PLEASE keep it option 2. 1 is so basics and boring and honestly forgettable. 3, yeah. Ok cute. But the dolphin is overdone.

The beach ball?! In full color? Iconic. Memorable. Makes the sign stand out.

Perspective from — a 10+ year marketing executive that now owns a managing and branding agency _x0001F618_

And just based on the “likes” on the photo post in all things Emerald Coast, lots of people agree because that design blows the others out of the water
Add a sea turtle to the opposite side of the dolphon for option 3
None of them

They look mediocre

Instead of yellow/orange letters; maybe white with a navy stroke around the letters. Might look more upscale & mature.

It’s like the tower of the ball. Love it
Could combine 2 and 3 to balance out sign.
This SCREAMS Pensacola!

Definitely should be 3, more wild dolphins than beach balls. Most people are more enticed by animals and it's just a more welcoming sign. I am a native of this area.

None are great.  From farther away it blocks one of the best views in the state.  It looks cartoonist.  Also, how will you hurricane proof that?  I can see it coming down easily.

I like the beach ball design because of the correlation to the iconic beach ball water tower at Casino Beach.

They’re all awful. This is a waste of money, why do you need a welcome sign to know you’re at the beach…
Add a colorful beach ball on the left!
Thanks for caring about our opinion

3 is so cute!!!

So cute!

Do a dolphin and the beach ball!! And change the font it’s boring. Make it match the entrance sign from gulf breeze

The dolphin _x0001F42C_ is my favorite. What about a dolphin jumping over a beach ball?

I love the colored beach ball, but we already have the ionic  Beach ball tower so I think we should do something different like the dolphin.

It would compliment the beach ball tower so well! ❤️
Week ago, when I first saw the image in option 1, I did not get the sailfish connection and did not know what the object in the top right was. I just thought the jagged edge represented waves on the beach and liked it. The beach ball in option 2 is much more attractive, a driver will get it in a glance. The dolphin is nice, but does not stand out like the colorized beach ball. Thus, I chose option 2.

The dolphin is the cutest for the sign but the beach ball matches the water tower so idk. It’s a win win. Maybe do both
My family visits Pensacola beach nearly every other year! We drive from Kansas to go to the best beach in the country!

It's late in the process, but having a colored beach ball on the left with the dolphin on the right would be nice too.
I actually like both #2 and #3.

Pensacola Beach is wonderful...all times of the year!

Since hurricane is the inevitable "challenge" such a sign will face, are they rated for 170 mph winds?

I suggest combining 2 and 3. Put the beach ball on the left, keep the dolphin where it is.

Balance the design by adding a sea turtle on the left hand side.

The beach ball is the perfect addition

NONE! These are the tackiest looking signs!!! Way to block the natural view with an eyesore that was designed by a middle schooler
Love the dolphin, but 2 is Pensacola.

Ashlee. I agree a overhead sign is a good idea - camouflage the sensors, and a welcoming gesture. However, maybe one a little more professional looking.

Pensacola native here. I think the font used is boring and looks terrible.

I wish you guys would use the font from the classic chrome Pensacola Beach bumper sticker.

I could not find an image online, but the font style looked similar to this one I found on etsy.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/837572607/pensacola-beach-sugar-white-sands-bumper

Have to have the colored beach ball to match!
It goes with the tower!

None of these options are good (but I had to choose an option to get this comment to you). It does not look good at all. The font is goofy, the spacing between the font is bad, the background design is not attractive-- Back to the drawing board!

None, redesign or nothing.

Wish the font was more fun!  More bubbly less block like.

Nothing

My true choice is NO Sign at all!!!  Stop wasting money on stupid, unnecessary eye sores. Instead do something useful for everyone that would improve access or traffic flow or just save people from more taxes and waste! PLUS, all three designs are lame and unartistic and quite demeaning to our beloved beach and citizens!!!

Why not have dolphin on left and ball on right ?
I do not find any of these options appealing. However, the form would not submit unless I chose one.
Ball should match ball at casino beach.  Love dolphin too and would be great to combine both...
Please, no. These are not good. (To say nothing of the scale. Or the necessity.)

If this had to be done (and it doesn’t), please get an actual design firm to do it.

Add the blue angels to the left side
Combine 2 and  3 beach ball on one side dolphin on the other
It's more colorful and fun!  I love coming to Pensacola Beach!

What is on the opposite side of the sign?

The beach ball is iconic representation of Pensacola Beach. I like the dolphin but every beach in the gulf has them. Maybe add a dolphin somewhere else on option 2???

Love option 2.

Beach ball is iconic. Let’s stick with our roots.

Put beachball on one end, dolphin on other side._x0001F642_

We have the beachball tower at pb. Only fitting the sign should have it too!

3 is the best look for the sign

You already have the beach ball with the water tower, I say do something different.

Love the Dolphin.

Beach Ball is the icon!

We vacationed here for 13 years before moving here 5 years ago. As soon as we got to the beach we would see the beach ball, water Tower and all our cares melted away! We were finally on Pensacola Beach! Ahhhhh....

Option 1 if the ball is see through to see the sky behind it.

Option 2 is okay but the ball colors should coordinate tones more with the sign than traditional beach ball primary colors.

I like them all and all would be wonderful. I like the more subtle nod to the classic beach all water tower.

None, these are all ugly. Please do not cheap out on this and hire a real designer.
Only voting for one because I have to. The pensacola beach sailfish sign should have never been changed to gulf of America. We can’t pay the money to take care of our homeless people, but we can to change an iconic sign to suit some tyrannical asshole. NEXT!

Or option 3

I wish there was an option of none of the above. These can’t even be described as options. There is only one difference. The designs are terrible and 100 times worse than the original. If giving the public options, at least make them all significantly different. These seem as though they were designed by a child in the 1990s. They look cheesy and all feedback online has the same. I haven’t heard of one person who like these designs.

The beach ball is colorful and stands out best!

None of them. Please hire a professional design agency. This is a disappointing attempt at a very important visual representation of our community. It should be designed strategically by a local professional design firm.

Beach balls may annoy some people trying to enjoy the beach. Dolphins do not.

Pensacola Beach has the iconic beach ball seen and it makes sense to keep the iconic beach ball in the signs.

option 1 is ugly

I like the dolphin better. It looks better. The water tower on the beach is painted like a beach ball, so 1 & 2 are redundant. Sometimes you can see dolphins in the water and therefore, it's natural. You have water in the sign and it looks like the dolphin is jumping out of the water, which they sometimes do. It fits!

Please revise this sign.  This is very cartoony and lacks sophistication.  There already is a huge sign in GB.

Add blue angels
All are bad design!! Too large and why put a fake ball to block the real one? The design and lettering looks like a poorly done ai attempt or a very inexperienced designer. It looks cheap and it’s just really poorly designed.

Love the dolphin one because we already have the beach ball as the water tower so it would be a cool addition! Great project idea!
Option 4 says dolphin on one side and beach ball on the other side, same side. I like both 2 and 3.

Despite the selection above my vote is for NONE!

They are all ugly but the beach ball is what we are known for! The sign itself is very child like and too cartoonish

Is a much more lively and atypical symbol of our beach.  Others are only objects; dolphin is alive.

There is already the beach ball on Pensacola Beach so please use option 3 ! ☺️

Love this one and the dolphin one, hard to choose!!!
Traditional beach ball!

BECAUSE THE BEACH BALL WATER TOWER

Needs cool neon lights like the sign in proper and coming back across 3 mile

None of the above. These look like clip art from an elementary student. Please consider something less tacky. Look up Anacortes, Washington welcome to downtown sign…something similar would be classic and timeless. A see through metal arch with a sign in the middle.

Option 3 with beach ball on the left and blue angels in the middle

# would match so well with the beach water tower  ! But please, please, please, DON'T consider adding "the Gulf of America ."

Option 3
Option 1 looks unfinished.

Honestly, as a community we’re missing a huge opportunity to incorporate a local artists design. Why not have an open submission? None of these do our community justice and most of the sentiment about it on Social media indicates locals don’t support these as much as picking the least poor design. Which is what I am doing.
These are all corny and none of the designs reflect the beauty of our area. Of the 3, the colorful beach ball is the most appealing, but that is only because there isn’t an option to choose “none of these designs artfully represent our beach.”
I strongly urge you not to use any of these.  Why can’t we have a more sophisticated, historically influenced design? We are America’s 1st settlement! Not an amusement park or Panama City.  It is not fair that all of this money is just wasted on what looks like a very unpopular design.  Please listen to the people.

I chose option 1 because it wouldn’t let me submit without choosing one….  We do not need another sign. Please consider saving this money for other more essential projects.

Option 3-2nd choice. Great options!!
Always love the Dolphins and Gulf Breeze is the Dolphins!!! _x0001F499_

The beach ball is iconic to Pensacola, representing it on the sign makes perfect sense.

Option one looks like a Pokémon ball

That font is horrible!!!!- At least use the same font that’s on the Pensacola Beach sign
Can a beach ball go on the opposite side of the dolphin?

I’m picking the best of these options but I think the design should be aligned with the new Pensacola sign at the foot of the 3 mile bridge. Use a similar font and colors, incorporate the beach ball as in this design but also the Blue Angels. That’s a significant part of the beach that you are missing.

Option 2 is the best of the three options. But this sign is downright ugly. It's is gaudy like the disney world entrance sign. We couldn't have done just a little more work on the design? I can give my design. Like was there an open competition for this sign that I missed?
None are that good, but if I had to choose 1, it would be option 3

Please properly kern and weight the letters (capitals have a heavier weight than the small caps) before fabricating!!

Maybe move the ball to the left and add the dolphin on the right. If not, the ball looks best.

It matches the giant beach ball water tower.
A combination of opt 2 & 3 with a beach ball on one side and a dolphin on the other to balance it out

3

Add some more design on top with the dolphin. A boat and other sea animals.
the dolphin says more about what pensacola has to offer

These are all terrible.

Beach ball to match the tower. Already have another fish sign so could get confusing with a dolphin sign

Don't like the block style font -- should be more wavy like the water. The design is just not eye-catching, not enough color. If we have to have this design, maybe #3 with the beach ball, Blue Angels, pelican, etc. added to the top.

As a born and raised Pensacola native who has lived and worked on the beach in the past, I’m not really that crazy about the choices, but of the 3, number 2 is the better of the 3.  To me, it would be nice if a sign could also include the Blues and Pensacola history on it!

Why not make it more casino looking like the Pensacola Beach arrow sign? The boxed font and the waves are too contrasting towards each other, too.

Option 3 would be fine if you add the beach ball to the other side opposite the dolphin.
if you have to do one go with 3, you really should open up design submissions, you can be more creative than this

NONE OF THE ABOVE, The sign looks cheap and like bad clip art. It has no charm, no history, no character. Why not invoke the mid century that started Pensacola Beach, or incorporate something from our history. There's dolphin's on the water tanks right around this area already and the beach ball is iconic to the water tower. If we're going to waste our money on a sign it might as well be unique. Just copy the beach sign in Gulf Breeze if you can't think of anything else.

Option 3 mixed with 2. Beach ball added to left side, dolphin on right.

The current toll facility is an arch.

Simply leave the current structure, but remove the two center toll booths.
I’m a beach resident. Option 2 is my choice of the 3 but im hoping a true marketing firm has been engaged?  This is a first impression and very important. I question if the font is correct and feel the sign could be improved. Also has the back of the sign been addressed?  What will it look like?

I think the name Pensacola Beach with the dolphin would be appropriate

Bringing the Pensacola Beach ball over to the new signage is great!
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to vote for what we will be seeing as you enter PCB. Thanks _x0001F64F_

People come hoping to see dolphins in the water
N/A
would love to see option 2 and 3 together put the beach ball on the left and keep the dolphin on the right and even make it glow up at night that would be nice to see also

#2 with the dolphin on oher side would e really nice!

Add both :) option 2&3; add the colored beach ball to left side and dolphin on right!

Please. Select me to get away from here. Life really sucks. I need the ocean to feed and fill my soul.

The beach hall design is too similar too the water tower

Why are you wasting the money on a sign?  Seems very foolish.  How about a  walkover to relieve some traffic and pedestrian safety issues? I don’t want any of the options.

I don't like any of them. They look cheesy.

It has our iconic beach ball.  Love it.
The beach ball is an iconic symbol of Pensacola Beach. Let’s keep it that way!❤️

All of these options are terrible. It is discordant with the culture and history of Pensacola Beach. The sign options presented have the feeling of a Middle School project completed with stock fonts and MS Paint. Please do not make historic Pensacola Beach look like a fourth tier tourist trap competing for attention from the Mouse.

Are these AI? Did you hire a graphic designer for this or was it made in MS paint? None of these look good or follow basic design principles.

Matches the water tower.
All are tacky and a waste  of money.

The existing toll plaza could be cosmetically redone  with the signage incorporated into the fascia and existing booths.

After hurricane evacuations when beach access is restricted the existing canopy and booths would be useful as shelter for deputies manning the post.

Additionally the existing toll booths serve to slow down speeding traffic coming onto the beach.

Why isn't a cost annotated for this project and where are the funds coming .
I like how the beach ball colors feel bright & welcoming!

We need a parking deck!
I think this design is way too cliche and not upscale. I feel this money could be spent somewhere else as it will not help improve tourism. First hurricane will come and mess this thing up too. I’m so sorry!

I think adding the beach ball from option 2 to option 3 would be better.

I like this one the best! It is colorful and goes well with the beach ball water tower!
I like option 2 & 3. Could you add the colorful beach ball on the right upper corner and the dolphin on the upper left hand corner?  Where will this sign be placed? At the toll booth?  Great ideas! I cannot wait see the results of the vote. Thank you, Lisa Causey

Match the ball tower!

I chose option 2 because "none of the above" wasn't available. These 'designs' are cheap looking and terrible.

None they all are horrible, only difference is beach ball outline which is an orange maybe? or a colored beach ball or dolphin. Come on we can do better. Option 1 is the worst

I believe the beach ball water tower in casino lot OSS it’s own landmark therefore the welcome sing should help represent something else in the area.
I think you should include the Dolphins and the iconic Beach ball on the sign.

All are very Generic and takes away from beauty of beach entrance. Welcome sign already exists at Route 98. Needs to blend more possible with water tanks.

At a minimum font should match old iconic sign if cannot make it blend more.

Is there a NEED for this? Or is it an unnecessary obstruction on an island running out of room and money spent that doesn't draw visitors, but takes up space they could be enjoying? That same money could fund so many other needed improvements. When people visit Pensacola beach, they normally know where they are without a giant sign. I could not submit the form without choosing a design, but my vote is clearly option 4 - - no sign.
Put TURTLE on opposite side of beach ball and dolphin in middle.  NEED to bring more Turtle awareness to the beach.
Curious will there be a message on the opposite side of the sign when people leave our beaches?

None. Why spend 6 million when that money can be used for much need projects in escambia county. Why can’t a sign just be put off the side of the road to welcome people to the beach.  I hate to think what a hurricane would do to one of these structures, then more money would be needed to replace it. Don’t agree that I had to choose an option to express my opinion.

Because it will match the dolphins on the water  containers right there and the beach ball is already so big why do we need another

Waste of money. A big sign is NOT NEEDED. Spend money on parking spaces or beach access areas with restrooms.

None.  They are all uninspiring and dull

Please don’t accept any of these. They are not befitting the beach.

Put two and three together.dolphin on one side and the beach ball on the other side.

None of these truly hit the mark. Would it be possible for something that’s looks more professionally done? This isn’t keeping in theme with our other Pensacola Beach sign and looks amateur.

Option two is the least appalling; no sign would be better. If you're going to make a sign, reconsider the design. All of these options are tacky and make it look more like you're entering a cheap theme park. *IF* you deem a sign necessary, make it unique to Pensacola Beach. Feature plants that are native to the beach and dunes: beach sunflowers, sea oats, beach morning glories, etc. Market what is unique and special about Pensacola Beach, not just a bland sign with another beach ball.
Wildlife wins. ❤️

The beach ball is an iconic symbol of time at the beach.
The actual "Pensacola Beach" part is obnoxious and ugly.  Please rethink this design and do better.  I'm selection option 2 purely because I like the colored-in beach ball.

I was really torn between #2 and #3, but the colored beachball is just too iconic to ignore.  Option #1 is TERRIBLE!  Way too bland for such a fun and exciting place as Pensacola Beach!

Maybe more than just one dolphin.  Would be good to have a sign giving information like parking full, flag status, and such.
Option 4 NONE. They look elementary and the font is basic. As a marketing professional, I can’t believe an advertising agency created these. No sign is needed. Option 2 is the least ugly only because it has the beach ball that matches the tower.

Looks great

Option 3, but I think it would look cute if option 2 and 3 were kind of merged together.
This option offers a better tie-in to the existing, and well-known, beach ball water tower.

2+3 on opposite sides would put this over the top along with a small quote/slogan
option 1 is boring

option 2 looks odd

option 3 is the best

I don’t like any of the options. I only chose one option to send my comments. It is already so overwhelming with signs all over the place in that spot. Why make it even more distracting with yet another sign?

NOTE I DON'T LIKE OPTION 2. OR 1 OR 3. None of these stand out as very good. I think we can do better. The new welcoming sign on 98 coming off the 3mi bridge is great. I believe that allowed local submissions and blind voting. Can we do that for the beach?

1. Does this add value to the beach? No

2. Is it an attraction that will bring in tourism that isn’t already going to the beach? No

3. Does it have an ROI? No

4. Is it aesthetically pleasing? Depends on the person.

Overwhelmingly, it seems to be a waste of money and has no aesthetic or financial benefits to the beach. IMHO, it just looks tacky. I only picked #3 because I could not submit a response without picking one.

None of the above.

All the options look like cheap clipart.

Please consider just scrapping the project or starting from scratch.

I selected Option 1 only because it required me select something.

Option 2 highlights the iconic beach ball!!

Maybe a ball with dolphin playfully bumping with nose??

These options are all goofy and don't actually look achievable, even if they did follow design and architectural principles. Can you re-bid this? Or re-allocate the funds to something more worthwhile?

Also, one thing that seems to be missing both here and in the Jacobs "presentation" is any notice of tolling infrastructure: You still need to tell folks there's a toll, it's pay-by-plate, and the amount of the toll--and I don't see that in any of the proposed "designs." Or height/specs/etc.

I love the colors on option two

Truth be told, these are all terrible. We have so much more to ofter than this junky sign.
Stop wasting our money!!!!!
These are all horrendous and designed by geriatrics that have no taste. It’s embarrassing at best. Please respect and represent this beautiful town better than this

I honestly don’t like any of these. There should be a public design contest to get a variety of options.
The beach ball seems redundant since you see the beach ball watertower coming onto the beach already.  Why are we spending money on this when there's already an iconic Pensacola Beach sign?

The dolphin represents our local beaches better than beach balls. IMO

These are all bad please have different options
they are all bad but 3rd is the best
The font isn't the best and I know it's just a drawing but curious what it will be made of and how weather proof, it looks cumbersome here. It would be nice if on left some sea oats, Blue Angels, sunrise could be incorporated.  As it is, it seems a bit lacking, unprofessional. Also the darker color at the top is incorrect and would be better off eliminated.
Of the choices, number 3. Surely something a little more imaginative can be found

We need better choices, none of these are very good

I love the dolphin _x0001F44D_

Please no sign!!

Even a walkover if needed for SunPass equipment would be preferable.

Thank you!!
Amazing work

_x0001F42C_DOLPHINNN!!!_x0001F4AB_

I think all three of these are really bad and that you should re-start the design process and come up with better options.

water tower is already beach ball

_x0001F308_. _x0001F42C_ ☀️
Promotes the sea life

I love the dolphin but the beach ball stands out!

There’s already a nice beach ball on the beach water tower, so now let’s have the friendly looking dolphin greet people there on the new sign_x0001F60A_
Our iconic thing is the beach ball!! Only makes sense to choose #2

Classic pensacola beach beach ball

The other 2 designs dont show up well.
Rarely does anyone see dolphins unless you go on an excursion. Even though the beach ball water tower has been empty for a very long time, it is a tourist icon along with the beach sign.

I HATE the font chosen. There is a font that the beach has used FOREVER with upper and lower case letters. That is what you should use instead. This is simply Helvetica with two capital letters. Do not use this font.

I like #2 with the Beach Ball as it’s more colorful. But # 3 with the Dolphin is what I think of when I think of beach

This is the one that seems to match the best! Hopefully it ends up winning. We don't need another beach ball, do we? (Referring to the water tower). Let's spread out our wings and go with the dolphin! _x0001F42C_

I don't like any of them, but had to choose one to submit my opinion. The sign needs to be classy, but all three seem very amateurish. Very unimpressed with these, as well as the new Florida sign just west of the bridge. I don't usually express my opinion on something like this, but I love the beach and Pensacola, and want representation and signage that rises to the quality of our city.
Option 2 reflects more of the actual beach experience. Option 3 is a more general reflection of the gulf as a whole.
Two is the best of the three, but why can't it also have the Blue Angels flying over the ball?

The font is ugly
Please, none of these options are good. As others have suggested, a restart with local artist is needed. A contest would rally community support. These options are horrible.
Add the beach ball to the other side

None, these are all pretty bad. The font size difference makes me nauseous. Please come up with something better

Definitely NOT option 1. If the beach ball wins, it should be colored like our tower. Also, hopefully the signs don't look as cheesy and animated as these renderings do. Renderings almost always look horrible so I hope the final product is classy.

Option 4, None of the above. Waste of money. One TS or hurricane will destroy it. Respect the beauty of the beach. Don’t do this. My vote was so I could write a comment.

Three adds more variety to Pensacola

How about a colorful beach ball and a dolphin ? _x0001F60A_

I would like to see that has the multi colors by his face or on the other side of the sign. I wish the dolphin could be cuter. I have several people say the dolphin and they like the dolphin and ball together on the sign.

The 'beach ball' is more colorful, stands out more!

While option #2 is colorful, option #3 says this is Florida

Just a point of view.

If none of the above was an option, that would be my choice. These look really bad. The sign should be less impeding of the view. The toll should have gone away years ago and the bridge replaced.
For consistency and "Brand Recognition" I would use the same font for the text that is in the Pensacola Beach Sailfish sign.  I would also use a Sailfish rather that the dolphin for, again, "Brand Recognition".  But the dolphin (Option 3) is way better than either of options 1 or 2.

The sign should incorporate our world famous white sand beach instead of different shades of blue. Emerald water and white sands!

Maybe add

The dolphin to the other side of the Pensacola ball

Gotta stick with the beach ball!!!!

I feel like maybe a sea turtle would be a really good option as well

They are all ugly but the beach ball is what we are known for! The sign itself is very child like and too cartoonish

Option 2 has more color and that's how I feel about Pensacola Beach, full of colors and fun for everyone!

2 brings the vibe of Pensacola the beach ball is what they are famous for.

I LOVE the beach, orange is my favorite color, option one is the best option!!
The font has no character and should be changed. If possible building a decorative structure to hide the SunPass equipment might not be so tacky. These design choices are just as elementary as the first round of designs publicly shared. Best of luck keeping the public happy.

I am a long time local and always look forward to seeing the beach ball. “3 would be my 2nd choice
Is this structure perforated to withstand hurricane force winds or is it a  solid / no wind resistant structure?
1 is horrible!!!

None really hit the spot. Just lacks

2 definitely best of these

Option 3 obviously!!!
I like the dolphin, but it looks a little kitschy. Maybe an outline would be better
Maybe add waves to the background of the colors? It would be cool to add different things the beach is known for along the entire top of the board. Palm trees, white sandy beaches, dolphins, we have tons of crabs and other sea life. Ive lived here my whole life and I have a lot of pride of our beaches. :)
The colored beach ball is a staple of Pensacola Beach. I knew about that beach ball from years ago before I even moved here from states away.... so did everyone else from here and not from here.

NONE. Hire an actual designer you cheapskate.  All 3 are laughably amateurish and do not show Pensacola well.

Why do we need this by the way? Can’t our taxes be spent on something better?? What a joke.

1. No sign

2. If must have sign something less gaudy

3. Shouldn't be all caps

Option 4 None of the above!

Surely that money could be spent on more important things.

If it will be done regardless, then option 2
One with the blue Angels who have been nice. Number 1 is just plain.

Option 2 and 3 not bad don’t like option1 at all do think we could have a better design and more options

I think the dolphin is a perfect representation of our beach.
As much as I love dolphins, I think the colorful beach ball design works because it goes along with the beach ball design on the water tower.
Concerned for wind resistance during storms.

None of these are my favorites, however my input would be to create a digital backdrop/digital board that can include warnings of rough surf/water conditions and upcoming bad weather conditions especially since one is always concerned about water conditions. Also with a digital board it can be changed momentarily and be more useful and more colorful and changed periodically with season changes and probably for the same cost or less and it could be bidirectional and helpful on both sides.

none of the above!

Please spend money lighting the pedestrian crosswalks before someone gets killed.

Proper traffic control of the Via de Luna/ Ft Pickens interchange would also be worthwhile.

The current toll facility is an arch.

Simply leave the current structure, but remove the two center toll booths.

I like #2 better, but the ball is little too bright. I like the colored beach ball. It just needs to be toned down a tad bit. #1 is a definite, No.
You could have beach ball on one side and dolphin on the other. Seems like the Blue Angels should be included as well.

There’s so much more to Pensacola Beach than any one thing. Therefore, consider putting a beach ball, dolphin, fishing boat and a Blue Angels plane across the top.

Option 1 is terrible. Option 3 is boring.
Dolphin

None of the above.  Please fix the traffic situation.  What happened to the traffic circle proposal for the Ft Pickens Rd/Via de Luna intersection?

You should combine options 2 and 3. Put the colorful beach ball on the left side and keep the dolphin on the right.

I really feel like options 2 and 3 should be combined.

I like the beachball
Personally I don’t like any of them but from the options number 3 is what I would go with

Beachball is iconic with Pensacola beach.
The beach ball is so iconic of Pensacola beach, it should be in the design. I like #2 better than 1, but either would be fine with me. I love dolphins, but the beach ball is much more "Pensacola".

Will it hold up to a hurricane?

Option 3

None, thanks

Put both the beach ball and the dolphin.
Why does it not say “Welcome to Pensacola Beach”?

No additional comments
Keep the infamous beach ball in play!

Option two with a dolphin on the opposite side of the beach ball.

None of these, need to redesign.
Option 2: Dolphin or some type of Blue Angel cluster to the left side of the sign. The back side of the sign should read something like "THANK YOU FOR VISITING", THANK YOU FOR ONLY LEAVING FOOTPRINTS." What would be very cool is if the blue angel cluster could be removable and added to the sign on Blue Angel weekend. So basically, the dolphin and Blue Angels could be traded out on the left side of the sign. Idea 3: Incorporate the Blue Angels in the middle of the sign (removable) or that week.

All look a bit cartoonish, would rather a more luxury look.

Has to be the iconic PenisCola Beach beach ball!!!
Without taking away too much from the city's name, it would be nice if there was a flag system that could help tourists, at least know the flag signs they need to worry about.  This would make it something hard for people to miss as they arrive at the beach, and could help prevent drownings.
These are terrible looking. Very basic and sad.  Try again with an actual graphic sraigner

Please don't make us pay for parking ((not related to the sign))
The overall design could be better. Take a look at Navarre Beach, Gulf Shores and Panama City Beach wooden signs. Much classier.

The dolphin goes with the water tanks as well as the Gulf Breeze Dolphins.
Very nice design. It seems to represent what Pensacola Beach is all about , the marine life.

Please forego the sign all together or hire a local artists to make the sign. There really doesn’t need to be a sign. It looks tacky!

Or put 3 Blue Angels jets trailing smoke, since everyone goes there to watch them from the beach every year

We already have the well known beach ball water tower.   Let’s have the dolphin on the Gateway!
Add welcome to and change font and maybe add beach ball to the dolphin!!

All of the options are awful! Why keep contaminating the beach with this stuff? The one sign we have is enough without overcrowding the beach.

I think all this color will fade fast in the sun. Something to think about when deciding on materials used from a current sign designer and graphic designer. The beach ball matches the water tower. It would be nice to find a way to tie the sign design into the Pensacola beach motif and the new Pensacola Pelican signs.

Like the beach ball because it stays with the beach ball tower on beach parking
I don’t actually like any of these designs.

Suggest better color of lettering, too hard to see & read rushing thru, clear ball & dolphin (is the Gulf Reese Scools mascot) too hard to see. What about wind? Sign looks flimsy  Put 2 dolphins on ends facing each other

Make it interchangeable with a Blue Angel airplane and maybe a shrimp to be used on various big beach events.

The added color of the beach ball adds dimension.
Be nice sign put up
Where is a Blue angels design at? Pensacola is their home so i think it would be right to put out a blue angels design sign.
I love the dolphin but the beach ball would match the water tower. It would look good sitting on top of the toll booth. I think it would be too much if you went through the toll and had to look back up for the sign. Maybe if not on toll booth maybe a little down the road.

Keep the beach ball theme.

Either a dolphin full body or a sea turtle would be nice as well.   … neon lights.. I mean, we already have a beach ball represented by the tower. I dont think we need to do it again.

'

Sharing so i don't lose it. The district 4 county commissioner Ashlee Huffingwhatever fast tracked this project, not allowing public comment. Hired a design firm with a $750k to $1.2 MILLION dollar budget to come up with this MSPAINT looking garbage. NOW she wants public input and to spend $7 MILLION DOLLARS tearing down the old toll booth and putting up this trash.

I'll be glad to interview and design something BETTER AND CHEAPER.

I would vote for none.  These are terrible... almost as bad as the pimples on the bridge.  They're really, really terrible designs... seriously... Who is deciding this stuff? Just leave it alone - don't waste more money on stupid looking things.

I think the font needs to be different and look less cartoonish.
I do not like any of these options, but number 2 is the best out of the three. The font and overall design should match the current signage of the iconic Pensacola Beach signs.
Build a parking garage please. We don’t actually need another sign telling people they are on the beach.

I think with a more appealing font, and maybe overall make the design fit the mid-century vibe of the welcome sign on 98.

I vote to Not put up a trashy sign that blocks the view of our beautiful beaches.  It is more than enough that you had to change the welcome sign to gulf of America.  Enough is enough.  Don’t spend the money to trash up what Mother Nature has created.
But I would still very much prefer to see local artists offer submissions and selection made from those, either through a public vote like this one or a committee of citizens.  The options are just too limited and people feel like they're being forced to choose between too few of them.
All of them are ugly. Blocking too much view.

Option 3 is great. Maybe a pelican standing looking toward the dolphin or a pelican in a flying pose on the left side looking right. But definitely 3.
I feel the iconic beach ball really makes this sign stand out!

This design goes along with the beach all water tower

Perhaps a "Welcome to Pensacola Beach" would be nicer.   The "welcome to" could be smaller but above and to the left of the word Pensacola.
The dolphins are cool but it should be more than one and then option 3 is nice
I know it's not an option but why not have a dolphin on one end and a beach ball on the other? I think that says more I'm a destination beach than just a simple dolphin or a simple beach ball.
The chosen font is not ideal.
They all look like they could use some work on their design. The designs are so basic and take away from the aether of Pensacola beach. Do something matching the gulf breeze sign with the swordfish.

Literally none of them. It's more garbage on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and it'll be in the gulf or a condo after the first Cat 3. Stop cluttering our beaches!

Add the full color beachball to the left side.

I would love to see a fun, beachy font. This one feels kind of plain.

Love how it ties in to the ball
None above !! Blue Angels I marked  option 3 as last resort…
PCB already does the beach balls

Option 2 and 3 not bad don’t like option1 at all do think we could have a better design and more options
None of the above. It looks like it was designed using PAINT. Hire a real graphic designer to design the sign PLEASE!

The font is elementary and the design does not reflect the beauty of Pensacola Beach.

I really don't think another sign is necessary at all

.

The beach ball and dolphin would be great.
Love option 3, but I vote option 2 as it incorporates the iconic beachball water tower.

Awful and cheap.  As a local artist, appalled. Looks like Disney,  the font is laughable and the colors do not match any of the other Pensacola beach signs aestetic- where's the branding cohesion?

Do not spend money on this when as a local THERE'S NO PARKING.
I like this idea. Will look inviting instead of toll booth.

Perhaps putting the dolphin and beach ball together would be attractive and a fun design.
None of them look very impressive to me. Looks very elementary in my opinion.
one hurrcaine and its all gone the landscape and the sign 100 mil gone
None of these please. It will be wasted money once a hurricane comes and destroys it. Our city just loves wasting money on half-baked ideas instead of fixing real issues.
These sign are all terrible.  I do prefer the beachball because of the branding tie-in with the water tower and the sign in beach sign in Gulf Breeze.  We have great artists in town. We should move forward with the toll tower erector set, and have it modified so panels can be added later (both sides) to give time for a competition to local artists and have a public vote.  Similar to how we named the street sweepers. I also prefer the idea of a quote instead, like "Every footprint tells a story"

These are all pretty appalling designs. If given the choice, I'd have picked "none." I hope someone doesn't just blindly report the tallies without the comments.

What's more, ANY sign will block the view to the real assets of Pensacola Beach: the beach and the businesses! Can't we find a better use for $1.6 million?

I was born (my brother & I first set of twins born at the "new" Baptist Hospital 1951) & raised, lived & worked for 30+ years in Pensacola Florida. Spent many a day on the sugar white beaches of Pensacola Beach. Always carried a "roll" of quarters in my auto console for the "toll bridge" fee.

All three are just terrible.
We already have a beach ball, I  think it’s a bit of overuse to use it again.
rather none, but if i have to choose

The current sign doesn’t reflect the classy, coastal character that many of us value—it feels more like the entrance to a theme park. While it may appeal to a certain type of tourist, I believe we can aim for something better. As a current resident of Pensacola Beach, I think we should prioritize both aesthetics and practicality. A more natural, understated design would be more fitting for our environment, and structural stability should be a top concern, especially given the risk of hurricanes.
None of the options are good.   Instead of the beachball of dolphin - the decoration should be some version of the the multi-colored Pensacola Sign sailfish!
The current sign feels more theme park than coastal charm. As a Pensacola Beach resident, I believe we can create something more natural, storm-resistant, and fitting for our community. Also, it’s time to consider paid parking as we are the only free beach around—it could reduce crime and help fund improvements.
I wish the County would reconsider and have an option that was less obtrusive and that would blend more into the natural landscape.  These options remind me of an entrance to an amusement park, rather than a national seashore.  We are known for our protected, natural beaches.

I selected one because I had to but none of these options are worth considering and would detract from the beauty of the beach.
Parts of the sign could light up to add character at night

Don’t like any of these options!?!?!?! Come on!

I love option 2! Colorful,  and has the beach ball which to me, says “Pensacola Beach!

Thank you!
I don’t care for any of these options- it looks tacky and not cohesive with other iconic Pensacola Brach elements like the sailfish sign on 98 or the beach ball- I am not able to attach the photo but JK Adams did a rendering that included all these elements and also featured the Blue Angels in the design. How about going back to the drawing board and asking for input from the community. Have a design contest with better options for voting. The currently proposed options are horrible

First off, good job on the designs. I love the idea of having a mammal or fish on the gate. In my opinion, it would be nice for the dolphin to have a tinge of blue. I think having a beautiful blue marlin is also a good option. And if you would rather replace it with an image of a yellow sun (maybe with sunglasses), that would be nice as well. If we are to compete with South Florida, which is highly developed and brings in many tourists, we need to also develop like they do....and add more palms.
I’m a professional artist and the second option looks best!

Honestly, I’m not a fan of any of them  but I do love the old iconic sign  ❤️ I’m not a local but I do love Pensacola!
I think we need to emphasize our natural wonders/ocean life a bit more.

You need to add the BLUE ANGELS in there!!

I like 2, but 3 comes in second. If one looked more like the sun, it would look better. Can't tell if it is a beach ball or sun, currently. Good work though!

I think we have too many beach ball symbols, especially with the water tower down there. I think we should highlight our wildlife more rather than catering to being a party/tourist destination. 3 is perfect but 1 is my second choice
In my opinion it should be a double sided dolphin in both corners

Two Seems most logical as the Beach Ball is a know icon of Pensacola Beach

August will be our first trip here.. so excited!!

Beach ball relates to casino beach

Might be fun to have a more retro 50s/60s (but still readable) font

Option 2 is the runner up. Not a fan of option 1.

I had to select one but you should have an option for none. I do not know why we need any of them it takes away from the natural beauty. It looks great the way it is. We do not want to end up like Destin. Maybe we spend this money on cleaning up the beaches or helping our homeless.
I wish there were options with different typefaces but the dolphin is the best

We already have a beach ball on the water tower.  I love the dolphin and I think children would look forward to seeing it when they visit.

Anything with dolphins is always my choice.  I love them!

Matches our iconic beach ball water tower.

Although I love the dolphin option, #2 is more colorful and eye-catching.

I prefer option 2 the best because the color of the ball pops.  But the left side needs something.  The Blues flying just above the left corner would be amazing and make it look so much more balanced.

Option 2 with the colored beach ball goes well with the iconic beach ball on the beach now.

Beach ball matches the water tower ✔️

They all look cartoonist and not right for a great beach like Pensacola Beach. I only picked 2 because of the Beach Ball matching the old water tower. Who's designing these cartoon designs. Hope it was a third grade class and that nobody was paid for those designs. I'd rather see the old toll booth left up than this Cartoon Disneyland arch. Come on! Seriously...you've gotta do better!

None of them. Need blue angels on there. Make sure it's high enough. We didn't need another place for trucks to get stuck or tear the sign down.

These are all cheap and tacky. Why do we need this type of sign? Can there not be a more simple was to take up tolls? But please anything but the dolphin.

No sign, it's a waste of money and people like the bridge view to the gulf not to a sign. If you want a sign stick it in front of the toll booth covering the top of the booths.

I believe since the water towers right there have dolphins on it the sign should too.

I vote for none of these. Only selected 2 because the form required it.

I like the dolphin better, however, factoring in the history and nostalgia associated with the beach ball water tower, the beach ball seems the better choice.  It is always something visitors and locals will associate with a visit to Pensacola Beach.  A simple, yet effective way to remain relevant to anyone as the beach ball becomes an associative memory to the area and creates a desire to revisit.

All of these options are atrocious and an eyesore to our beautiful beach, we do not need a sign and hurricane season would tear this down , invest the money into something more important for our community.

None of the options are very good.

None of these above! These are all tacky and not an improvement to the current toll booths. I only chose option 2 because there was no option for none of these designs.

Definitely basic designs, no class or appeal at all. Do you think Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Destin or Panama City would go for this? No way. The design looks cheap, boring and lazy. The font on the sign and windo stickers that were common in the 70’s and 80’s would be so much better. Some form of a scripted font, one that is not Innisfree would work. Very embarrassing designs. If you’re going to build it, don’t go cheap on the artwork. Use teal, aqua or similar color scheme that reflects the co
I live on the beach. I think all three are tacky, and resemble a carnival sign. Why not have a classy sign in the median? One side to welcome, and the other side thanks for visiting.
None of the above do something better

Out of these three number two but they could be better

None are good but 2 is the best

I like dolphins
Don't want any of it. Fix the parking situation first!!!

Would be cool to have a Blue Angel on the opposite side of the beach ball.
I only selected option three because it’s the least terrible one. I vote for none of the above.

I love a dolphin on thee other side but alone it looks washed out.

NONE!! Can't submit comments without choosing. This is a terrible waste of our money in Santa Rosa and Escambia County. Put this towards pedestrian crosswalks, additional turn lanes, or anything to better the infrastructure from our growing tourism! This sign is a sad attempt to replicate Disney Worlds welcome and will make Pensacola Beach tacky!
Another sign identifying Pensacola Beach is not needed.  Besides it will be blown away with the first storm.  There has to be better things to spend tax payer money on.

Option 2 matches the theme of the beach but also maybe some crabs to but overall super cute!
The Dolphin is the best of the three

We have been visiting for many years and Portofino Island Resort is our go to 2-3 times per year. Considering purchasing in the next 5 years.
I like the idea of the ball being see-through and the outlining of it matching the Pensacola beach letters!

I associate Pensacola Beach more with a "beach ball" than a dolphin.

When I went to college away into Central Alabama, and told people about our beautiful beaches, those who have been there before would always associate Pensacola Beach with the big water tower Beach ball at Casino Beach parking lot. So much so that a lot of them called at the beach ball beach. So that’s why number two is the better option, it’s what we’re known for!
All are terrible. Go back to the Pensacola font at least!

I like option 2, matches the beach ball water tower

Love this one! Very appropriate!
What is wind load? Tropical storm could send it to Cuba if not properly designed.
What about hurricanes can it come down
Much better than the original design!!

The banner is tacky!!  Please find another option.

In my opinion, bright and contrasting colors make beach balls more noticeable in crowded environments. The colors in option 2 are bright and will easily catch the eye.

Iconic Pensacola colorful beach ball best represents the area.

jgyuro@hotmail.com
Option 2 matches the water tower

I really like options 2 and 3, but I think option 3 stands out the most because it reflects our care for the marine life on our beach, which feels meaningful. The beach ball design seems a bit outdated to me, and I get the sense that others might feel the same. That said, I’m sure whatever you choose will turn out great. This is going to be a wonderful addition!
Since the beach ball water tank is very popular & is somewhat a symbol of Pensacola Beach, I believe it is the better choice!_x0001F3D6_️

The idea of a sign spanning across several lanes of traffic does not appeal at all - not seeing the advantage of such a sign.  Are both sides of the sign the same image?

Why can't you go back to the drawing board and put a beach ball on the left side A dolphin on the right side and blue angels flying across the top. the blues are a major part of our community. But they're being left off of our pensacola beach sign doesn't make sense

Love the dolphin!

Where are the Blue Angels? How about a Spanish explorer to the location of the first Christian mass. How about the iconic Pensacola Beach Water Tower Beach Ball?? Current options looks bland.

Match it to the iconic water tower, definitely.
NONE  of the above all very juvenile

Should have choice for none

The beach ball is colorful, easy to see and in keeping with the already well known beachball and fun there is to have on Pensacola Beach.

None. These options are terrible.
The dolphin looks right.

None of the above!! Do an artist rendition contest at the very least!!

None. Honestly, this is a poor choice to spend taxpayer money. There is already a perfectly visible sign directing and welcoming people to Pensacola Beach. If the county is truly itching to spend approximately $7 million on Pensacola Beach, then use the money to improve the intersection of Fort Pickens and Via de Luna. This intersection is a consistent problem with traffic and the pedestrian traffic doesn't follow traffic signals. I believe this is where the money should be spend.

I don't like any of them, but had to choose one in order to leave this comment. Why do we need a sign when there is already an iconic sign to turn to the beach? If anything, the new sign should have the same theme, as the turn sign in Gulf Breeze, it would tie it all together.

None, all three look cheap and touristy…and yes I do realize we are marketing to tourists, but come on. Only reason I picked #3 was so I could submit the form and provide my feedback.

Looks like a second grader did a good job on this.
If you could place the option two beach ball on this one also it would be amazing.   Love the idea.

Fee simple ownership should be for beach ownership.

Please consider adding more palm trees and tropical trees. It would be nice to have a boardwalk like the one in Hollywood Beach Florida and a parking garage like the one in Hallandale Beach Florida. It would also be nice if we took some ideas from Miami Beach and from southern Florida. They are really nice things they have that we do not. We should have more tropical areas and walk areas.

Please make the dolphin more blue and consider adding something yellow like a sun or a beach umbrella.
They all look very unprofessional and like a child did them. Not a fan of the design AT ALL
I don't like any of the options. They are all tacky. But we are forced to choose one here!

Get some of our local artists to come up with a design

None of these. It looks like clip art from windows 3.1. The font is bad and clips into the dark blue wave at the top. And has zero Pensacola iconography. Please reconsider these crappy options that a middle school student could have drawn up.
I like option 2 because it goes with the beach ball water tower.

option 3 but should have one with blue angels

love the dolphin; a natural for the gulf of america
I do not like any of these. I vote none of the above. Please consult other design teams.

I liked the old one better.

Dolphin

No vote at all.  This sign is very bland and unimaginative and bulky.  Why not a much smaller rip-curl wave sign in the median at the entrance? Also- during peak summer hours, a large portion of casino beach parking lot needs to be $2 or $3 an hour paid parking.  Tourists WILL pay.  This is not hard folks.  Leave the rest of the parking lots free. Winter it can be free all over.

Option 2 make the most sense. The beach ball water tower is iconic.
These are terrible. Certainly hope the County did not spend money for this. A school art class could do much better

Should have an option for none of them
Looks good

None of the above. This looks like the start to a Mario Kart Race. We need something more professional and actually well designed. This is not the symbol we need to welcome people to our island. This is not an image of the crowd we are trying to attract.
Why do we need an object above the sign?
With the Dolphin hitting the beach ball or maybe balancing it on its nose
The Beach ball should be on the left side and the dolphin remain on the right side _x0001F601_

Needs to include the Blue Angels

Would love to see the blue angels incorporated into this design
We need better parking not another reason traffic will be held up. Build a parking deck on casino beach a few stories high offer a deck for just workers of the shops and restaurants

All of these designs are sub par and reek of Disney. You can do better! Nothing would be awesome but if there has to be something, do a design contest and get something great. I go out to the island every day. I grew up here and moved back after college to raise my family.  Please don’t turn this into an amusement park

Mimics the water tower.

It has to have the beachball for Pensacola!

Will this sign blow away when have strong winds or hurricane?
Unfortunately, all three of the options look extremely childish.
Why not combine option 2 and 3 together. The ball on the left side and the dolphin on the right side.

Just NOOO on ALL 3!  Such a shocking waste of taxpayer money! Plus really bad taste!

Forced to pick an option, I would go with 2, but there should have been a fourth option of "No Sign". The main purpose of this is to read license plates, so why not use the red light license plate readers that are used in Gulf Breeze and Pensacola. These are a lot less cumbersome and are not all that noticeable. The sign is not needed, much less ugly and people know where they are when they get to that point. Also, tourist in road for a selfie.

I do think the options aren't great to choose from. All are basically the same design and I would prefer something entirely different.

The Pensacola beach ball has been an iconic symbol for Pensacola for decades, option 2 aligns with the vision of a family friendly beach environment that Pensacola Beach has been known for.

Dolphin is more appropriate for a sign. Love it!
I chose option 2, but I personally think there could be another artist in Pensacola that could draw up a better sign to represent Pensacola beach. We love our beach and the history it has! These look like designs that you would see on a 99cent shovel at Alvin’s Island.
People on the beach are usually searching the water for dolphins thinking if dolphins are around sharks aren’t! A pod of dinosaurs are fun to watch!

The Iconic "beachball" say's it all, "FUN"

Dolphin -#1 choice! They're beautiful! When dolphin are sighted from boat or shore, people get excited! Go Dolphins!!

Colored beach ball #2
Don’t need another beach ball design as the water tower on the beach is already that.

I don’t like any of them - look to cartoony

Like in a kids coloring book

Very poor choices

Def not option 1.  It was hard to decide between 2 and 3. But the colored beach call is iconic for Pcola Beach.  But I do like the dolphin too!!
Gone at first hurricane

Since there is already a Beach Ball landmark lets go with a Dolphin.
None of the 3. Such a waste of money. Financially Stupid actually.

Please just fix the roadways in the county. Fix the lights. Give emergency workers and police a livable wage.

Honestly I don’t think we need this sign. I am not voting for any of them.

No blue angels ?

These are all really bad. This is a clear sign that commissioners are out of touch.
Strong Preference is none of these signs.

Actually, I like The beach ball on the second one with the dolphin, but opposite the dolphin on the left side so it’s balanced out because right now you only have the sign is lopsided. So have the dolphin on one side and a beach ball from the number two on the other side.
Change dolphin to blue angels
They're all terrible. Very lazy design. Do better.
What is the need for a "gateway"? Also, why is there not an option that incorporates the Blue Angels?

Consider putting some beach-related theme picture on the opposite side of the dolphin or ball to balance the sign, or put the dolphin and or ball in the center
Wildlife is way better than a beachball.

I do not like option 1 but do like option 2 as 2nd choice

I really like the dolphin but it seems to blend into the background. The beachball colors “pop” and draws your attention.

How about adding a sea turtle to the other side, to balance the dolphin?
I actually would prefer this without the additional element! Thank you!

It will coordinate with the tanks that have dolphins painted on them.

It’d be nice if you could combine 2&3
This is not needed and does nothing for the residents that pay taxes to live here and can not even access the beach. On another note all of these are not esthetically pleasing. A school aged child could do better I hope you didn’t pay a firm a lot of money for this.

I like the bright colors on the beach ball too bring the eye's attention to the sign.

If we're going to wasted money on useless things then let's go for #3

none, look like a kids coloring book. Take inspiration from the old sign in gulf breeze or your new one on three mile bridge.

The middle picture is the best
I like the Dolphin

Option 2 is based on the famous beach ball on the beach.

I think the dolphin emphasizes beach fun but with a node to nature if that makes sense (better than a beach ball).

The beach ball represents Pensacola and seems the best choice. Thanks for letting us vote !

The beachball on option 2 echoes the classis water tower.
None of the above, please consider opening a call for designs to the public. These signs look a bit outdated and distract from our beautiful beaches. Something retro or less cartoony would be a bit nicer. Please do not count the vote for option 1 as I do not support any of the above signs. Thank you

Beach ball is a good symbol of the beach

Support wildlife!

all these options are horrible please try again

Option 2 reflects the Pensacola Beach ball and therefore provides consistency and recognition.

Definitely the beach ball!
This one please.

While I think I’m generally positive and that you guys are in a no win situation I think all 3 are very amateur and lack any credibility.   The guy with Jays and Jets thru something together much better than these.   Again no one will be happy but watching almost everyone dislike them all is pretty telling to me a plan be revision should be sought.   Good luck!  Steve
I would like to see 2 and 3 combined, with the dolphin in place right above the word Beach as pictured , and the beach ball on the left side, right above PEN in Pensacola

Why can't you have the colored beach ball on one side and the dolphin on the other side?
Can’t go wrong with a dolphin on a sign

I don’t like any. I think we should incorporate the blue angels in a sign, being their home town. It would be so cool to see the blue angels everytime you pull into the beach.

none.  They are equally ugly.

Let’s promote the natural wildlife here rather than encouraging plastic balls to enter our waterways.
Add the beach ball to number three also

Born an raised ❤

What CAT rating will it have for hurricanes

The beach ball is unique whereas the others are not.

So, I was forced to select something I think is wasteful spending just to give my honest opinion.  Quit trying to Panama City our beautiful beach up.

We don’t need another sign up.

Our beaches speak for themselves and so do the locals and the true community natives.  Quit spending money on BS projects.  Quit building things that are irrelevant.   What is wrong with you people!!??
Instead of money spent on a sign, how about a cross over ( similar to what gulf breeze high uses to get to the foot ball field) at the beach and add digital read outs on it, can use for storm and other info like water danger etc plus sell space for advertising.

I think a total redesign would be best.

Option 2 includes the iconic Pensacola beach beach ball. It feels more relevant to home.
All three look cheap honestly. Lets design something that ties in better to the new sign pointing to the beach and to the area. Change the background,  change the font, change the image. Add the blues!

With all due respect, all three designs look childish and lack any sort of sophistication. They would serve to “cheapen” Pensacola Beach and should be sent back to the drawing board.

Please use option 3 as a tribute to our local wildlife.

Why spend tax monies to let people going to the beach know they've arrived?
Option 2 because it goes with the theme of the beach sign in Gulf Breeze

None of them. This is unnecessary spending (and frankly terrible graphic design) when we already have a Pensacola Beach sign.

Complete redesign to match either the gulf breeze beach sign or the pensacola sign

Best would be colored beach ball on one side and dolphin on the other - fun & nature!

There should have been an option with a sea turtle.
Live in Gulf Shores but love Pensacola too!

Definitely the beach ball. It's the  Pensacola Beach significance that separates it from the other beaches in the area.
Really don’t see the need for any of them.

What is wind load? Tropical storm could send it to Cuba if not properly designed.

None of there. Are there any other options?
They're all bad. Please choose a new design.

I love the color beach ball but you already have the beautiful Beach Ball water tower. Go with the dolphin.
Option 2, with the beach ball, is a call back to the Water Tower graphics Pensacola is famous for. BUT, you need to incorporate a white layer--possibly the bottom "wave" layer--to represents the sugar white sands,
Option 3 looks great!

This design is not aesthetically pleasing. I understand this is replacing the toll plaza, and will be needed to disguise equipment. I do recommend other design idea's be explored.

2 and 3 are good. 1 is no bueno

By far the best!

What is this Disney World? I'm only selecting one of the above options due to the fact you have this set up so that an option MUST be selected in order to leave a comment. They all suck and are redundant when considering what is already in place. Does the massive, 175-foot-tall beach ball in Casino Beach parking lot ring a bell? Or the 4 huge water containers on the right after going through the toll with dolphins painted all over them? Embarrassing on all fronts. Suggestion: use the blue angels

Perfect image!!!  From a 75 yr old native...everyone always looks for the "Beach Ball" tower when they go to the beach!!!  Been here for 75 years...never lived anywhere else!!!

If this had the beach ball on one side and the dolphin on the other would be perfect.
I would prefer more natural accents in the corner versus something based in consumerism and waste. I like the dolphin. Some other options could be the sun, sand dollar, or shell.
I really like option 3 because it seems more natural to have a dolphin jumping in the waves.  Option 2 is a very close second because the beach ball is quintessential Pensacola Beach.  I don’t like option 1 at all.  You can’t really tell that that’s a beach ball- looks like a weird eyeball or something.
None of these options are good. They all look cheap and tacky. Please don’t do this.

All of these are wrong. Call for artist designs and pay them.

It would be great to add the Blue Angels in!

The dolphin doesn't add much color, but I like the idea of sea creatures more than a beach ball. It'd be awesome to add two or three more sea creatures. Maybe a sea turtle, starfish, and manta ray.
I don't think any of the options show the history of Pensacola beach. Also it's kind of a "boring" sign. Not something you'd want to selfie
This is unnecessary and wasteful, but if you just have to do it, go with the beach ball. I’d rather see the money go for better parking options.
#3 is awesome
I dislike all three designs. The welcome sign needs to look professional.  These designs look like they were submitted by a kindergarten class. There needs to be an option for none of the above designs

I feel the money would be better spent on public bathrooms. Also, public parking.

Please! None of these are suitable for this beautiful and growing area. I'm not against having a sign. I'm against having an outdated, new, EASILY designed sign.

I don’t like any of them. Tacky. Ugly.

#2 gives a nod to the iconic Pensacola beach ball!
Would it be copyright infringement to use the Pensacola Beach font from the beach ball water tower? I feel like it would be a nice touch to tie together those two beach landmarks.
Need more options and better renders. Hire an artist to do these ideas please. They look cheap-ish.

Option 2 makes it look like visitors are coming to HAVE FUN _x0001F60A_

All gay.

I don't want any of these options and really just want to know WHO asked for this at all? We don't need a "gateway sign." Use this $$ to place more signs with actually important info - fill in all holes on the beach, don't use it as your ashtray, add more garbage cans or lifeguards . . .  seriously SO many more really useful things could be done.

did a child  make these?
It matches the beach ball on the beach.
We need to Treasure and Preserve and Protect All the natural beauty here!!!...The Sugar white sand, the Dolphins, the Sea Turtles & Seagulls,  Sandpipers, Ghost Crabs, & all the other marine life God has blessed us with!!

We definitely don't need another Beachball!  Let the Iconic Beach Ball shine !!

We definitely don't need another Beach ball or anything else commercial!!  And reminders to leave only your footprints behind!!

The beach ball is an iconic symbol of Pensacola Beach because of the water tower at casino beach!
The beach ball matches the water tower

Imo, 2 more porpoises would be perfect. One in the middle and one on the opposite end of the porpoise that's already there.

The font is too juvenile, perhaps a different font.
make it upscale

If I have to choose I'd choose the dolphin. But, to be honest I think the signs are tacky and cheapen our beautiful city. I'd like to see more options.

The Beach Ball in Option 2 matches the Beach Ball Water Tower already on Pensacola Beach. The Beach Ball in option 2 is already a symbol of Pensacola Beach that people recognize. Follow the Beach Ball to the Beach..
Personally I like the dolphin but if there was a beach ball on the other side it would be great!
None. They are a complete waste of our money.

All of these options look horrible and are a waste of taxpayer dollars, I just had to choose an option to comment. I can't believe you're lazy enough to even entertain this. No sign at all, let's get improvements instead of a cosmetic option that does nothing and actively makes the beach look worse.

I love the picture with the famous Pensacola Beach colored ball!

Stay with the multi colored beach ball. It matches the water tower which is a cool landmark on the beach

Anytime I visit, I look for the beach ball first thing.  It's synonymous with PCB!
However option 2 matches our tower

The eye goes to color.  The colors of the beach ball in option #2 pop.

The water is so clear you can see the marine life!

Fits with the beach ball at casino beach and is bright and pretty. Put a dolphin on one side too!

Another sign is not beneficial or needed.
All look cheap

A combination of the dolphin and beach ball would be best! Maybe an overlay or the ball on or near the dolphin.

We have a big beach ball on the tower.  The dauphin represents the beach.

No sign is better but if I had to pick it would be 2

It could be better

one is bad

I did not choose 1 or 2 as they compete with our already existing beach ball. I would have liked to see a jet, the lighthouse, or a combo of our birds and animals- pelican, heron, sea turtle, dolphin…
Add Blue Angels to the opposite side

They're all cute but I like the beach ball with color, since it's consistent with the water tower beach ball, that Pensacola Beach is known for.

Love the dolphin. It appears as if it's jumping out of the water. One of my favorite pleasures of living here.
I don’t understand Option 1 - a Blue Angel plane would have been a better option.

We have the beach ball in a lot of places.  The dolphin softens the entrance and people come to the beach to relax.

Although I must say, the city planners are going to have to do something about the traffic for those of us who live here. I can't even go to church because I can't get back onto the island for hours when church is over. Why create more high rises when the traffic pattern will not su[p[port it and the parking is a nightmare.  my car was hit and damaged by a hit and run in the park
None of the 3 choices should be a sign for our beautiful beach. Seriously, the sign should have bold colors and things that truly draw your eyes to it. If you are going to waste tax payers money on this, do better than the boring neutral colored sign!
They all look tacky!! Re-design! I only picked one to vote!!

Goes with the water tower.

The sign is unneeded and a waste of tax payer funds.
Is the objective to turn Pensacola Beach into a theme park? I have been a beach resident since 2004 and really like the reputation of family beach. Why not dress up the entrance similar to the new entrance into Gulf Breeze from the 3 mile bridge. A bit of class! Not option 3.
So excited for this! :)

With a different font

I would have preferred the Blue Angels. We already have a beach ball. I think the dolphins are the best choice.

None of the above should be an option. Hopefully there wasn't a lot of money spent on these designs. How about figuring out how to incorporate some of the most iconic parts of the beach, the water tower at Casino beach and the light up Pensacola Beach sign, put one on each end.

All of these options have issues. I honestly hate all of them. Please do not rush this project! Not enough time or effort has been put into feedback from the community. I am excited about the tollbooth redesign, but the money allocated for this project should be used to improve pedestrian safety, access, and landscaping instead of a stupid sign.

What is this font? It’s pretty terrible. The blue angels need to be incorporated. They ARE Pensacola. JK Adams had a great idea.
Not a real vote for option 2!! As a professional who deals with graphic design daily, the font and background color are not high level graphic designer or artist level. These are very bland and have room for improvement. Maybe something that coordinates with the original sign before the bridge. Definitely need better options that are more professionally created with better colors and fonts.

None of these!!! Horrible!

I feel like dolphins are more of a Destin thing than Pensacola. I prefer the multi color beach ball as it represent more of how the water tower looks as well

The beach ball is iconic!
None from above. Looks like entrance  into amusement park.

None of these! These types of signs are more appropriate for Coney Island. If there is a sign it should be a simple one with understated elegance. Something that is more representative of our laid back style here, not a cheesy one.
None. Leave it alone!

I do not like any of these options! Please do better! Do not put this hideous sign on our beautiful beaches! This doesn’t represent Pensacola beach!
It just goes with the theme of pcola beach the other one throw me off lol

What is the point of putting up this sign? It seems like just another way to spend ridiculous amounts of money and will blow over in every storm!
I like the design with the dolphin because I think that adds another suggestion for locals and visitors to explore our wildlife and marine life.

Need more options
I would choose option number 4: nothing!  Once the toll booth is gone, why interupt the view with a big sign that costs way more than necessary?  Maybe something small on the side (like what's already there.)

If using the beach ball one, maybe balance it with an umbrella on the opposite side?

Love the dolphin

All are great!
The dolphin is the classiest of the 3 options

That ball matches the other one

Put the blue angels on it!!!

No sign, the view speaks for itself. We can take that metal down? I’d also move more creative options. If I HAD to choose… 2 or 3. NOT 1!
We see alot more dolphins than beach balls at pensacola beach.
This pairs with the iconic beach ball water tower.
Displaying a community message of caring for the water's inhabitants is an excellent way to increase awareness to why it matters to take pride in protecting your shorelines and ocean/Gulf. The beach balls promote plastic. Go team T. truncatus!!

2 & 3 look great
None

Pensacola Beach has always been known for the Beach ball

tbh they’re all ugly, should go with a different font

Why do we have so many signs? Some of them aren’t even helpful. For example “the loop” signs have no street names and don’t show you where you are on the map so what is even the point of those?! Please stop spending money on stuff like this. All of these look terrible and cheesy by the way. I’d rather no sign than any of these options
Barely any difference. Not much effort on designer’s offerings.

COMBINE OPTION 2 & 3 ON THE SAME SIGN( Dolphin at one end & beach ball at other end).

option 3 is the only good one. But we dont need another sign stop wasting money on stupid stuff_x0001F937_‍♀️
Option 2 is a classic, and also just colorful and fun! The dolphin is a close second. Option 1 with the cutout orange I am not a fan of. And people that don’t know what it is might mistake it for a basketball or a volleyball. Or some kind of abstract sun.

Could be better designed these doing look great - chose the best of them all but again I don’t like the design
Ball is see through. Less is more in this case. Perhaps make the orange ball outline the brightest emerald color from the bottom of the sign.

Matching the water tower
These are ALL FUCKING HIDEOUS. Are y'all serious with this bullshit?! Hahahahaa! Of all the things they could waste money on, a sign? Really? Whoever is in charge of this should resign in disgrace. Because they're way out of touch.
Instead of a beach ball or dolphin, I think it should be a blue angel formation

The dolphin design align with the dolphins in the waters.

What will be the road clearance for the Gateway? Will it allow high winds during storms to pass through it?

None of these signs show significant differences and are a poor design overall.

I feel you should add the dolphin to the other side. Everyone associates the beach ball with Pensacola but we also see dolphins as well.

This sign appears to be highly susceptible to high winds. Recommend putting some holes or slits in it that would allow the wind to go through it.

I would like to see option for the sign itself. The sign looks childish and cheap.

Consistency with the beach ball water tower
Can they put the beachball on the left and dolphin on the right?

I like 2 the best because the ball brings more colors to the picture. I really like number 3 second place. If they had combined 2/3 in same picture somehow that would’ve been awesome I would have to look at it to make sure.

Option 2 and place the dolphin on the other side of the banner as well....

I think the money (several million dollars) could be better utilized. The money could be used for the elderly, the children, the special needs people, the wildlife in this area.

Tearing down the toll booth and putting up a sign is wasteful. Locals, tourists, etc know they are at Pensacola Beach. A sign doesn’t need to be constructed. (There is an iconic sign pointing people to Pensacola Beach, in Gulf Breeze.)
#3 looks the best
all of these options are ugly. including "option 3".

How about you use that money for a starting point and figure out more parking.
I love Pensacola!!!!!!!
They all are a bit underwhelming, unfortunately. The first one (that was similar to a hotel on the beach) was the best :) Can we try again?

Don't repeat the "Beach Ball" as it is already an icon on the water tower.  The Dolphin is the best option since it's an actual marine animal that lives in our waters.  The depiction conveys what it looks like, makes it identifiable, and creates anticipation that tourist and locals alike could see a dolphin while visiting Pensacola Beach.  We want to provide a great experience at Pensacola Beach, one that will lock in memories for a lifetime, and it starts right here at the sign!!

There should be one with the Blue Angels in the background

There is only one choice! We don't get enough dolphins to have #3. And #1???

I had to pick one but I wouldn’t have picked any of these, this sign is tacky. These sign options aren’t even real options. What, just because we can pick the icon on the right? The font is horrible and outdated and the background is basic. Do better.

PLEASE consider redoing these or opening them up to a different design firm. The design feels juvenile- not at all representative of Pensacola Beach- it feels like generic clip art. As a senior graphic designer, I could never imagine approving this. Not trying to be unkind. Just love our beach and want it represented well.
We already showcase the beach ball..

Maybe some dolphin love??

Just say'n...Folks pay good money to for a chance to see them cuz they are just FUNtastic ;):)

I like the gate idea but am not really a fan of any of the concepts. Y’all can definitely do better than this. If you are going to do this do it right

Did you see J.K. Adams, photographer's suggestion?  It's a contender! I hope someone sent it to you.

they should put the dolphin on one side and the beach ball on the other.
None of them actually.  Also, I am appauled that you changed Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America to appease Trump and the MAGAs. Shameful.

.

Great tie in to our iconic logo

Dove tailing something with state identified would be nice. Photos with people etc don’t know state Pensacola Beach is in when posted.

Really and truly I don't think we need anything else but if you have to I pick # 2
I like the colorful beach ball also
incorporating the beach ball is a great idea, but all 3 of these look like they were designed in MS Paint. Hope they turn out looking much much better and not sloppy! not sure this is even really needed personally, feels like we could take the money going to vanity projects like this and actually put it towards promoting tourism. a tacky sign isn't going to even begin to recoup the damages done by HB 7033
While I made a selection, I don't see this as a useful expenditure of funds.
Gulf of America

The dolphin helps represent the vast sea life here at the Gulf coast! I prefer it to the simple beach ball designs. Although the beach is fun, it's important to recognize the life!

The concern that I have with the overall project is that it looks like this will be the first to be damaged with every tropical storm that we receive on the gulf coast. It just looks like we will be constantly doing repairs and maintenance to keep this erected.

2 if it has to be one of these. Why do we keep featuring palm trees which are unnatural to this area? Why not feature Ft Pickens in it somewhere ? The sand looks dirty instead of our quartz glittering white. Why are there cars parked on the beach sand?  Too many cars overall in the whole design.

The colorful beach ball on the sign ties it to the iconic beach ball water tower.

It represents the beach when u go out there u wanna see dolphins, there’s already beach ball there.

None of these. They are all ugly. There is a photo of a sign with the beach ball tower and the Blue Angels that would look soooo much better!!!

Ball is beach fun
I am not a fan of the base design, and dislike that the only choice we are given is for a superfluous add-on decoration. Please reconsider potentially having local artists provide alternate designs.
Beach ball is the icon
The dolphin will go with the water tanks on the right very well
None of them!!

I was prompted to select one of the three or I couldn't submit - but NONE of these. Pensacola Beach does not need gimmicky signs that shout "amusement park". It's home to the national seashore, Ft. Pickens, luxury homes and condominiums, exquisite wide-open natural areas and a nice business district. I realize there needs to be a structure that captures license plates, but something simple (Welcome To Pensacola Beach) would suffice rather than the plagiarized original design submitted.

The dolphin brings out more of sign
Love the Dolphin

It forced me to select an option - but the choice is NONE, the sign is unnecessary and a waste of money.
We love the whole beach ball theme!

Unfortunately, none of these designs look as if they were professionally rendered and definitely do not look like they would be anywhere near $7+ million.  These drawings look very juvenile.  It is a shame that this is the best artistry that could be found in Pensacola (which I seriously doubt).  Makes me wonder why this company was chosen.  HMMMMMMMMM.....................Not impressed. Very disappointed.

When you drive to the main beach at Pensacola, you see the massive beach ball water tower which is iconic. Option 2 teases that design aesthetic with the incorporation of the colorful beach ball, and I love it!

None of the above. I had to vote to submit my comment. But these signs look like they were designed by an elementary schools student with MS Paint. They do not represent our community. Hire whoever made the pelican sign as you’re coming off the three mile bridge. That sign is a million times better. Use the font from the beach ball tower. Add more color and the blue angels. This sign is bland.
Pensacola should consider putting the ball with colors on one end and the dolphin on the other end.

Make sure it's tall enough that 18 wheelers and RVs can easily pass under. We don't need more 17th Ave problems holding up beach traffic flow. Parking is bad enough
Beach ball is cute but the actual beach ball would be background right behind it

The water tower already covers the beach ball aspect.  Everyone loves dolphins except sharks and small fish ).

Yay

I think a sea turtle option would be good too. Dolphins and sea turtles represent the Pensacola area. A beach ball could be any beach.

None of these are really that great…

I like 2 as well.  3 best because of dolphin.
All of the designs are too simple. where is the creativity.
Having the "Blue Angels" flying over the sign would be great too!!
Find someone who knows how to use more than PowerPoint clip art and emojis for a design.

All of these signs a VERY unattractive and corny looking. Horrible. Chose 1 because I had to choose something. _x0001F922_

I think the Blue Angels DEFINITELY need to be integrated as well… perhaps on the other side, opposite the colored beach ball. They are integral to Pcola Beach culture and history!
Honestly as long as it don't say the Gulf of America on it I like it but honestly I think we could spend the money on helping those ppl or animals in need we just got a new beach sign

The beach ball has always been a symbol for Pensacola Beaxh!
Oh those are all great choices, love number 2

It would be great if you could attach the Blue Angel's to the sign too!

I selected #2 because I HAD TO. I vote NONE of them. Please take the money and use it on PEOPLE...let's work as a community to address our unhoused neighbors and help organizations who are working with them.

i like the dolphin with the sign

I feel like there is a beach ball on everything, it would be nice to see something without one.
I like the dolphin

Option 3 better projects the natural area that one is entering.
Option 2 or 3

A option with the fish that matches the Pensacola beach scenic highway sign in gulf breeze would also be a great idea!
None. They are all cheesy and a waste of money. Next hurricane will blow it down anyway. Don't obstruct the beach view
None of the above, waste of money. They updated the iconic sign, they added the new Welcome to Pensacola sign.  How about leaving the toll booths in place to moderate traffic flow and spend those dollars on building a pedestrian walk over closer to the main vein area to keep pedestrians safer. You could put another sign on the walk over if you think another sign is needed, but how about having an led display for surf conditions? Something that makes more sense. This isn't Disney.
This survey forced me to select an option... I don't like any of these options... I don't think a sign is necessary.  We already have the sailfish sign in Gulf Breeze telling motorists to turn right to get to the Beach... adding this sign in my opinion is a waste of taxpayers money!

What about something that shows our beautiful white sandy beach?
Add Blue Angels and Beach Ball

Why?!! What is the value vs spend?
No sign. I selected option 1 b/c I had to vote but I vote NONE. All are ridiculous. How about the county pay attention to manicuring the millions of palm trees planted that are extremely overgrown or a pedestrian overpass. Please put the money toward something that makes sense.

None of the above. Let’s spend money on better traffic control please !! The parking and traffic flow in boardwalk lot is a complete mess .

None are acceptable. Please put to bid for local designers to submit ideas not just a friend of someone in office.

Um, what is this piece of crap?! Can we get something better and not generic looking...seriously, how many millions was wasted on this? My 3 y/o could do better.

All 3 are ugly. 2 is the least ugliest.

Someone put another option on Facebook that was nicer. If these are my only options I pick 3, but I think each of these looks cheap!  Let’s put up something that reflects the amount of money we pay to live on the beach.

If I have to choose, 3 is the least terrible.

Options 1 and 2 are just awful. It does seem the majority of your constituents do not want this at all so maybe you should listen to them? _x0001F937_‍♀️
I believe the beach ball is already represented.
Own 2 condos on Fort Pickens, love the beach ball with color!

It would be nice if they added the Blue Angels to the sign! Also don’t make the sign look so childish.
None of the Above… do not spoil our natural views!

PLEASE DONT! Everyone knows where they’re going, this is tacky and classless. Take the whole thing down. Or leave the frame for traffic advisory, but please don’t waste our tax dollars on a state fair sign.
Color is better and though we live the wildlife, the beach is the feature.
Wish you had other options to choose from. These are so 1950s look. Makes us look outdated
Honestly I don't love any of these designs. The sign is clunky and could use more open space. It's looks more like an entry to a water park than a beach community. I hope you will consider lightening up the design a little, making it more simplistic with some negative space.

This is an insult to the residents of Pensacola Beach. These “Options “ are really poor. Ashley said she didn’t want to take the time to let the residents have input.
None.  We don't need a tacky sign blocking the view of our beach.  Been here my entire life and never ever thought we needed a sign to tell me I was at the beach.  Please be a better steward of our money.  This is not it.

The fact that I have to select an option is also offensive.  I don't want any of them.

All options are cheap looking.

We have beach ball at the parking lot, since we have so many dolphins I think it should be the dolphin on the sign.

They are all ugly, like a 3-year-old child drew it and someone added some cheap clipart.
All options available are excellent choices. However, option 2 is the best choice because the beach ball is consistent with matching the iconic Pensacola ball tower.
None. These are terrible. This isn’t Disney world and look so child like. Maybe you could ask for citizen submissions instead, or try AI designs.

None of the above. Why on earth would you want to block the view coming on to the beach?

Our beach is already looking tacky and touristy. It's a shame. Let's put up yet another hotel for corporate greed. How about you do something about the parking?

Hard NO on this ridiculous endeavor!

Dolphin would be good with some color surrounding it
This is completely ridiculous, and a waste of money! SERIOUSLY,  could you not use your time and our resources TO EXPEDITE a solution for LACK OF PARKING SPACE ON THE BEACH for the enormous crowds that are an ongoing issue? How about the backed-up traffic in GULF BREEZE to 3-Mile Bridge and down Nat'l.  Seashore? Come on, pushing YOUR PET PROJECT does NOT benefit anyone who ACTUALLY LIVES HERE and has to deal with it IN GB. A pretty sign WILL NOT CHANGE NOR HELP WHAT ACTUALLY NEEDS ADDRESSING.

They all look sleazy and cheap, like an old amusement park left over. Price is outrageous for what we're getting. Surely, with all the imaginative ideas in P'cola something more attractive and classier can be found. This cheapens the Beach right up front. Yuck!  Thank you for at least giving the public some input. BTW Option 3 is best of the worst.

Pensacola Beach has always been known for the beach ball tower in the main parking lot.
I think option 2 with the beach ball it is Iconic to Pensacola Beach
Surely you can come up with something better than those options. Where's the one with the Blue Angels and beach ball.
Too bad you can't have the multi-color ball in option two on the left side of option three...so that you'd have the ball along with the dolphin, that would be pretty cool!

No offense intended to the designer, but these do not look good. The design really should be rethought if a sign is needed at all. There are loads of graphic design students at UWF who I’m sure could design something less generic to really showcase what makes Pensacola special.

They're all terrible and look like a child created them. I strongly believe you should go back to the drawing board and create something better. Maybe some design that goes with the original sailfish beach sign, keep the same theme leading up to the our BEAUTIFUL beaches.
You could add a dolphin on the upper left too. Just needs to be the same style as the beach ball.
I don’t like any of them I think that we should keep looking for a better design but out of these option three
Why does it have to be cartoonish? Can we get a grownup design?

Goes with Beach Ball Water Tower
All three of these options are not good. We can do better.
Where are the Blue Angels?

None of the above. Either no sign, or open it up for local artist submissions.

These all look like a 12 year old just discovered clip art. We have too much local talent for THIS to be representing our beach.

Personally I do not like any of them, but had to choose one to submit.   They are all very “cartoonish”.  I would like to see a design that isn’t like a Disney entrance.

The color in the beach ball adds so much to the design.  Makes it pop!

I like the gantry & tolling equipment without a facade! I personally think the facade ideas look cheap and tacky (sorry). The view coming into Pensacola beach is busy enough and beautiful enough without cluttering it up more. I think just a simple frame would be great. (Only choosing option 3 because it’s making me chose one and we already have a beach ball so dolphin it is)
Reconsider our options, please.

None. This expensive sign is unneeded. The $ should be used on more priority projects like helping solve parking. This would be a major waste of tax dollars.

None, makes the beach look tacky and will cause issues with drivers slowing down to find their phones to take a picture. The sign on HWY98 split to the beach is good enough.

Neither of these options. All are extremely obtrusive and infantile. Pensacola Beach is not Disney World, and should not be presented as such. This is a cruel and distasteful addition to the serene beauty of our beach.
I’d prefer no sign at all. Just the metal rails with lights and cameras is best. There’s already so much going on why can’t we just enjoy the view?
I have lived on Pensacola Beach for over 30 years. I love change and have always been a fan

of our beloved neon sign.  Since I had to choose one option I select the option I liked the most.  I do think

there should have been more designs to choose from .  I love Pensacola Beach but I think something better

could have been designed.  We are home to the World's Whites Beaches after all. Funds could have been better used.
None of the above. In order to comment I had to pick one.

Lived on pensacola Beach for 42 years. Those look gaudy and Disney. Please if you’re going to do a sign, which we don’t need, it should be simple like the ones by the water tanks. Steve Luppert did some nice designs and posted on his Facebook page.

None of these, please do not waste money on this!
All three are terrible but the 3rd is the least terrible. Ideally I would like a white rectangle with a minimal footprint using cut outs to spell Pensacola beach and incorporating shapes and symbols of area, like waves, blue angels, birds, dolphins, beach ball, bushwhacker, tern, turtles, etc into the design. This way our beautiful sky is what colors the sign. Would also allow easier passage of wind. But ultimately I think it should be a design contest in which the public can vote.

Option 4: No Sign is my 1st choice
How about NO overhead sign. It would look immensely better without.
Option 4… no advertising or art. Instead add a information board… “Fort Pickens right lane, Via De Luna left lane, Red Flag stay out of Gulf, Blues flyby at 5:45 as examples. Just good info as people sit in traffic!
Maybe the sign w/o the beach ball or dolphin.
No sign  is needed
I don’t find that any of these options enhance the experience of driving onto Pensacola Beach. I actually find these new sign options to take away from our iconic Beach Ball and to be blunt, these signs are a reflection of our city and these look extremely cheap and have not been designed with even the least bit of quality. If you’re not going to put in the time that it takes to creat a thoughtful and well designed sign then no money should be spent on the project. I thought this was a joke.
Since the beach already has a beach ball on it, the ball options seem overkill.

Would be nice to have an option with a Blue Angel. Especially since we’re the home for the Blues.

The colors in option 3 are more pleasant to look at with the sky and other natural surroundings.
NONE of those designs....have a design contest, confident someone can come up with a wayyyyy better design than what's currently being suggested. These current designs are not good at all.
