Escambia County EMS invites the public to its Open House Saturday, March 15 from 12-4 p.m. at the Escambia County Public Safety building, located at 6575 N. "W" St. The Open House is free and open to the public.

Escambia County Secures Over $61.8 Million in ARPA Funding

Escambia County has secured more than $61.8 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding, using the funding to move forward with a variety of projects and initiatives to benefit Escambia County residents. Many of the Escambia County Universal Access projects on Pensacola Beach which were funded, are already complete. SRIA Board Receives Haas Center Economic Impact Study

At the January 29 Santa Rosa Island Authority Meeting, Nicole Gislason, Executive Director of the University of West Florida’s Haas Center, presented an overview of a resident and visitor survey outlining economic impacts and perceptions. The study estimated that 965,400 visitors came to Pensacola Beach during 2024. The survey had 2308 respondents.

President Biden protects the eastern Gulf of Mexico, safeguarding Florida’s iconic beaches

On January 6, the Biden administration announced the withdrawal of the eastern Gulf of Mexico from future offshore oil and gas leasing under Section 12(a) of the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act (OCSLA). This critical action protects Florida’s Gulf Coast beaches and marine ecosystems, a step welcomed by Healthy Gulf.

SRIA Board Ratifies Updated Board Policy Manual

The Santa Rosa Island Authority Full Board at their March 27 meeting voted to accept the Board Policy Manual after months of review and updates to individual policies. The 128-page document includes 46 policies.

Take a Journey Along the Eco Trail, online

Santa Rosa Island Authority recently launched a new, content-rich website showcasing the many unique creatures and features of the barrier island. PensacolaBeachEcoTrail.com is an extension of the physical Pensacola Beach Footprints in The Sand Eco Trail, which consists of informative, educational signs posted across the island. An interactive map hosted on the website guides visitors along the trail which stretches from just outside the Gulf Islands National Seashore Fort Pickens gate to Park East - just before the Opal Beach area.
